The three-day third Global Artificial Intelligence Summit kicked off on the 10th in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The theme of this summit is "Using Artificial Intelligence to Benefit Humanity", focusing on eight major areas including national artificial intelligence strategy, generative artificial intelligence, practical applications, ethics and morality, and smart cities.
Abdullah Ghamdi, chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the organizer of the summit, said in his opening speech that the development of artificial intelligence still faces many challenges, and unity and cooperation are the solutions to overcome these challenges.
Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Swaha said that artificial intelligence is just a tool and cannot replace human capabilities. The relationship between humans and machines is a partnership where machines benefit mankind. Countries around the world should work together to bridge the digital divide and allow people and technology to coexist harmoniously.
It is reported that this summit has more than 450 experts and scholars in the field of artificial intelligence from 100 countries and regions, discussing the development and challenges of artificial intelligence in various forms such as keynote speeches, dialogues, round-table discussions, etc.
Saudi Arabia regards artificial intelligence as one of the key development directions of economic transformation. Since 2020, it has held three consecutive global artificial intelligence summits. The latest report "Status of Artificial Intelligence in Saudi Arabia" released by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority states that artificial intelligence is expected to contribute 12% of Saudi Arabia's GDP (gross domestic product) in 2030.
