The editor of Downcodes learned that Nvidia is developing an innovative system called ACE, which will completely change the way players interact with game NPCs. This system allows players to have smooth two-way conversations with NPCs using natural language, bringing a more immersive gaming experience. This technology will be first used in the online mecha combat game "Mecha Break" planned to be released in 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 platforms.
Recently, Nvidia is developing an innovative system called ACE, which will allow players to use natural language to interact with non-player characters (NPCs) in the game.
The first game to use the ACE system is Mecha Break, an online mecha combat game scheduled to be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 platforms in 2025. Players can choose from multiple types of mechas, such as assault mechas, melee mechas, and sniper mechas, and engage in fierce duels on land and in the air.
The core innovation of the ACE system is that it supports NPCs to understand the player's voice commands and enable two-way dialogue. According to Nvidia, the ACE system is able to see players through a webcam and identify surrounding objects. The system combines on-device processing with cloud processing to generate NPC vocal responses.
In the demonstration video, the player asked the NPC for detailed information about the mecha and the mission through voice, and completed operations such as selecting the mecha, changing the paint, and starting the mission. Although the NPC's answers still seem a bit mechanical, the system's response speed is impressive.
Nvidia paid special attention to performance optimization when developing ACE. The company has optimized a stripped-down model to run on RTX GPUs, down to the entry-level RTX 2060, and only takes up 2GB of video memory. Although this local version is not as powerful as the cloud version, it can still generate a response in about 300 milliseconds, ensuring the smoothness of the game.
Currently, the application of the ACE system in Mecha Break is relatively limited, and it only supports interaction with a single NPC character. In the future, this technology may become more deeply integrated into the core mechanics and storytelling of games. For players without Nvidia GPUs, how the ACE system will work is still to be determined, and it may default to cloud processing or use other alternatives.
With the launch of the ACE system, game interaction will usher in new possibilities. This technology is expected to bring a more natural and immersive experience to games, making players' interaction with the virtual world more intuitive and vivid.
The emergence of the ACE system heralds a major change in game interaction methods. In the future, more games may use this technology to bring players a more realistic and immersive gaming experience. Let’s wait and see!
