Unlike many traditional resource packs, which go far beyond the game's biggest changes, the relatively improved default resource pack simply makes some discreet changes that actually improve the game's visuals a lot. Textures have had a lot of noise removed, colors have been made more vibrant, and all things considered, the visuals look much smoother than they did in vanilla Minecraft.
The resolution of the relatively improved default resource pack is standard x16, which means that as long as you're using a computer that can handle vanilla Minecraft without any issues, you'll have absolutely no issues. This pack is available for Minecraft 1.12 so if you haven't upgraded yet, you definitely should to avoid compatibility issues.
