At the time of writing, the vanilla base resource pack has been out for a week and has already turned a lot of heads and received a pretty positive response from the Minecraft community. This mod is designed to take Minecraft back to the basics, in this case the art style of the alpha Minecraft that existed in many previous versions. If you think Alpha Minecraft's original art style was better than it is today, or if you just want a sense of nostalgia, this resource pack is a must-try.
Of course, there's no doubt that Alpha Minecraft's visuals do have their fair share of flaws, and in order to maintain a sense of realism, those flaws are present in this pack as well. For example, the textures may look rather noisy and the colors are a bit too silly, but aside from these issues, most visual aspects are very enjoyable and you'll definitely have a good time exploring the game world with this pack of apps. The grass and leaf textures in the pack look particularly impressive because of how realistic they are.
The vanilla base resource pack has a resolution of x16, which combined with its art style ensures that you can get the pack to run at a stable frame rate without any trouble, as long as you have a machine that can run a gamepad for vanilla Minecraft. It's also worth pointing out that this pack just came out and is still in the early stages of development, so some textures are bound to be lost.
