Apple announced a major update to watchOS 11 at its 2024 fall event, with special emphasis on the role of artificial intelligence in improving user experience. Among them, the translation application will be launched in watchOS11 for the first time, supporting speech recognition and multi-language translation, and can be used on Apple Watch Series 9, 10 and Apple Watch Ultra without a mobile phone connection. Users can download up to 20 language models for offline translation.
In addition, the Smart Stack function has also been enhanced by AI, which can automatically add new widgets based on the user's time, location and other contextual information. watchOS11 also launches a new “photo” watch face that uses machine learning to identify and manage photos in the user’s gallery.
All in all, the AI upgrade of watchOS 11 brings users a more convenient and intelligent wearable device experience. From offline translation to smart widgets, to smart photo management, these functional improvements demonstrate Apple’s progress in the application of AI technology, and also indicate that smart watches will be more integrated into users’ daily lives in the future.
