Artificial intelligence is changing the way music is created, but copyright and artist compensation issues have always been major challenges facing the field of AI music. Indian startup Beatoven.ai offers an ethical and responsible solution. The company skillfully combines AI technology with music creation to provide users with convenient music generation and mixing tools, while paying attention to artist rights and data compliance, setting a new benchmark for the AI music industry.
In today's music creation, the application of AI technology is attracting more and more attention. However, many startups face huge challenges in this area when it comes to copyright issues and reasonable compensation for artists. However, Indian startup Beatoven.ai seems to have found an ethical and responsible way to deal with these challenges.
Mansoor Rahimat Khan, co-founder and CEO of Beatoven.ai, is a professional sitar player from a family with seven generations of musical heritage. He developed a keen interest in music technology while studying at IIT Bombay. He said that while there were not many opportunities in India, he hoped to combine his passion for music with technology.
Founded in 2021, Beatoven.ai quickly attracted the attention of investors and completed a pre-series A round of financing of US$1.3 million, bringing the overall financing amount to US$2.42 million. Khan and his partner Siddharth Bhardwaj found that the greatest demand for audio track generation was among independent game developers, agencies and production companies. Their goal is to provide users with a simple interface to generate audio tracks by selecting music type, mood, and duration.
Despite initial challenges with data collection, Khan and his team managed to accumulate more than 100,000 proprietary data samples by establishing partnerships with multiple artists. With the introduction of the Diffusion model, Beatoven.ai's music generation quality has been significantly improved. The company uses different models to accomplish different tasks, including using OpenAI's ChatGPT API and the CLAP model for video generation.
In addition, Beatoven.ai recently launched a feature called "Augment," which is similar to a sound wave generation model and allows users to create remixes based on existing music. Khan demonstrates how to transform a simple sitar melody into a hip-hop-inspired remix that showcases creative flexibility.
Currently, Beatoven.ai is also testing a video-to-audio model. Users can upload videos and the model will generate corresponding music based on the content. This feature provides users with more creative possibilities.
Khan believes that in the future, companies like Spotify and YouTube should open up their data and provide APIs to promote the further development of the AI music industry.
