Recently, the French Association of Composers and Music Publishers and the German Music Association jointly released a worrying research report. The report revealed the potential impact of artificial intelligence technology on musicians’ careers, arousing widespread concern among industry insiders. Research results show that AI technology is profoundly changing the way music is created and disseminated, posing a significant threat to the livelihood of musicians, which requires attention and solutions.
According to research released by the French Association of Composers and Music Publishers and the German Music Association, more than two-thirds of musicians worry that artificial intelligence will threaten their ability to make a living. The study also found that 35% of respondents have used artificial intelligence in fields related to music creation, and musicians' income is expected to drop by 27% in the next few years. The survey also showed that most respondents are demanding more transparency from companies that use AI tools, and that politicians are paying more attention to AI and copyright challenges.
The results of this study highlight the complex situation of opportunities and challenges brought about by the development of artificial intelligence technology. The music industry needs to actively adapt to the new technological environment, while strengthening the protection of musicians' rights and interests, and exploring a harmonious symbiosis between artificial intelligence and music creation. It is hoped that more complete laws, regulations and industry norms can be established in the future to deal with the copyright and economic challenges brought by artificial intelligence and protect the legitimate rights and interests of musicians.
