At the Bangalore Technology Summit 2024, Intel India President Gokul Subramaniam emphasized the company's importance in the Indian market. He said that Intel's goal is to achieve sales of 100 million AI PCs in the global market by 2025, and the target of 40 million units is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
At the new development center, students and faculty will have access to the latest computing frameworks, which will provide strong support for research in areas such as education and basic sciences. In addition, Intel has also established four key research projects in cooperation with IC, covering areas such as computer architecture language models (LLMs), memory performance and network technology. These projects will lay the foundation for future AI technology development.
Govindan Rangarajan, Dean of IISc, pointed out that with the widespread application of AI in various industries, researchers need to grasp the latest industrial advances in order to conduct more impactful research. Ramaniam also mentioned that the development center aims to find AI solutions that can be applied on a large scale to bring tangible benefits to different social groups.
In addition to investments in higher education, Intel also plans to work with state governments in India to promote skill development projects. By partnering with Karnataka's Nipuna Karnataka project, Intel hopes to provide every student in K-12 with an AI PC to improve education and technology literacy.
