A recent survey commissioned by Google Workspace and conducted by Harris Poll showed that the application of AI tools in the workplace is becoming increasingly popular, especially among the younger generation. The survey covered more than 1,000 American professionals aged 22 to 39, focusing on those who are current or future leaders. The survey results reveal the huge potential of AI in improving work efficiency, improving communication and enhancing leadership capabilities, and also reflect the positive expectations of professionals for the future development prospects of AI.
A recent survey commissioned by Google Workspace showed that more and more professionals are willing to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help them deal with complex and arduous work tasks. The survey, conducted by Harris Poll, covered more than 1,000 U.S. workers between the ages of 22 and 39, focusing on participants who currently hold or intend to hold leadership positions.

The survey results revealed that 82% of respondents said they are already using AI tools at work. Even more impressive, 88% said they would be willing to use AI to launch work tasks that feel like they don’t know where to start. Specifically, 70% of participants have used AI when composing emails, especially when composing complex emails or overcoming language barriers. 88% of respondents hope to use AI to adjust their writing tone to improve communication effectiveness.
When communicating with colleagues, 87% of respondents believe that using AI can make them feel more confident when composing long emails on their mobile phones. When it comes to participating in meetings anytime, anywhere, 90% said they would feel more secure if AI could record meeting minutes for them. In addition, 93% of Gen Z and 79% of Millennials use two or more AI tools every week, showing the younger generation's strong acceptance of new technologies.
The survey also revealed that 98% of participants believe AI will have a significant impact on their industry or workplace within the next five years. More than half of the respondents will actively share their experiences with colleagues after using AI, and 75% are willing to recommend generative AI (gen AI) tools to colleagues.
The professionals who participated in the survey generally believe that AI can increase work efficiency, improve communication and enhance leadership skills. Specifically, 50% of respondents believe that AI can automate routine tasks, giving them more time to focus on more strategic matters. And 47% believe that AI can help improve communication and promote collaboration between teams.
For leaders who aspire to play a greater role in the workplace, AI is seen as an important tool to enhance teamwork and improve management capabilities. 86% of participants believe that AI can help leaders become better managers, and 79% said they hope to use AI to improve their management capabilities.
“Our research shows that a new generation of leaders is actively using AI to increase their impact at work,” said Yulie Kwon Kim, vice president of product for Google Workspace. She noted that these emerging leaders are not just using AI to AI is regarded as a tool to improve efficiency and as a catalyst for career development.
