This is the first time I write about such a big topic, because website operation is indeed a very manly matter, which requires the efforts and sacrifices of webmasters. It cannot be solved by me in just one or two sentences. Therefore, I changed the previous question "Determining success or failure" to "Very important". Because of my limited personal experience, I really can't cite a few examples of success or failure.
Okay, let’s get down to business and talk about my recent personal experiences and insights, so as to share them and remind some webmaster friends. My friend Luo Tuo returned to Yichang from Shenzhen to develop, and his main focus was on the local network. So, I first spent a week building a self-service website building system for Yichang enterprises, and promoted it on a classified information website of my own, hoping that someone would be interested in it and invest. However, a week passed and no one cared. For stability reasons, we began to improve the existing classified information network.
Luotuo started to build this classified information network when he was in Shenzhen, but the IP was never high. At that time, I also served as its administrator. When I had time, I helped him with promotions and other websites. Make friendly links. Now, quitting my job in Shenzhen is a desperate move and determined to find development on my own. Therefore, we must first promote this website and then bring economic benefits. But, how to spend the least amount of money to promote this website? He and I thought about it for a long time, and finally came up with several plans (including online and offline, several of which are still very effective. I won’t go into details here. However, it didn’t take long for me to discover a big SEO problem, a problem that greatly restricted development. In fact, it is not a difficult SEO problem. Almost all webmaster friends know that it is the problem of keywords. Since I have a small website, Baidu only includes 90 pages, but there are more than 40 IPs coming from Baidu every day. So based on this conversion ratio, wouldn’t our classified information network have more than 1,000 IPs every day?
So I compared the source keywords of the two sites and found that the PR was 3. Baidu’s classified information network that updates snapshots every day has very few IPs converted through some simple keywords. So I searched on Baidu for keywords such as "Yichang rental", "Yichang housing", "Yichang part-time job", etc., and our website ranked more than thirty. I'm confused. This website's Baidu weight should be quite high, but why can't it rank higher?
I turned back to the website and looked at the source code, and was stunned. The keywords of the website are really rare, and they don’t highlight the strong importance. Similar to: houses, second-hand houses, part-time jobs, etc. And the title is imitating the style of a big website. The simple title is "XXXXXX----Yichang City Life Information Publishing Platform", which has the flavor of a big website, and the visual effect is pretty good, but it is still not a big website now. The station has very few IP addresses. Moreover, there is no Description, which feels very disharmonious.
So the next day I told him my idea and suggested adding keywords such as Yichang houses and Yichang rentals. He also admitted this, and he also said that it was because there was no award for keywords due to background program issues before. Do it well. So, I optimized this aspect last night, and Baidu updated it every day. I saw the effect today. More than 100 IPs were directly added, and most of the keywords were on the Baidu homepage.
So, I came to the conclusion: details are indeed very important when it comes to building a website. In fact, it’s not that you don’t know, but that you haven’t noticed. Details are always overlooked inadvertently, but it is these details that determine the development of your website.
In fact, there are still some details, that is, the website meets the user experience. I once mentioned it to Luo Tuo, and he agreed, and this is also the direction we are working towards.
