First, I read this article by Benhuoer: High-quality web design: examples and techniques
I suddenly realized that the reason why I admire some web design styles is that the key is just the right amount of white space.
Such as douban, such as yahoo.com, such as microsoft, etc.
(Figure 1)
Figure 1 above is a screenshot of the homepage of Douban. We can see that there is a bold white space in the lower right corner, and the entire page is very coordinated, leaving a place for the user's eyes to rest, unlike many domestic operation pages, which can't wait to be on the page. As long as there is a place to put something, put a link.
For another example, take a look at the bottom of the Yahoo homepage, Figure 2
(Figure 2)
There is still a blank space, but the overall page looks very harmonious.
Let’s take a look at Alibaba, which I have always thought has very detailed products. The homepage of Taobao inherits the consistent tradition of domestic website operation pages. The entire layout is plump and does not give the user’s vision a chance to breathe. With just a click of the mouse, it may Generate a PV.
The same is true for the operation pages of portal websites and some information channels. Apart from reasonable spacing, there is almost no white space.
But I think that the style of domestic web pages that are full of information elements may have a lot to do with the domestic Internet environment, such as the demand for advertising, the pressure of operating PV, etc.
Our goal is not to be reasonable, but to be the most complete. If the page is left blank, it means "opening the skylight". The problem is quite serious, and we must put something to make up for it.
Well, just 15 minutes before I wrote this blog, my boss came to me and said that there was a blank space in the lower right corner of the quotation center page of the website...
Well, I still firmly believe that the web design of domestic websites will trend towards some new standards and trends, such as white space in web pages.
