Don't take it lightly just because you think this is a 2D game and think the quality of this game is average. The protagonist of Dragon Quest VI has two personalities. One is an orphan who lives with his sister in the dream world created by the Demon King, and the other is Prince Redok who suffers a lot of pain in the real world. What the player has to do is to accompany the protagonist, find himself in the alternate parallel world, and finally kill the devil.
At the beginning of the game, the protagonist led his friends to fight the big devil, but in the end he was defeated and turned into stone. The protagonist then wakes up from bed and discovers that everything was a dream. This kind of opening is actually often encountered in JRPGs, but this time the dream was not that simple when it was discovered later in the game.
Why do you say that? In the game, the protagonist wakes up and bids farewell to his sister, leaves existence and begins an adventure. And met those companions in the dream during the adventure. Then it’s a bit interesting at this time, why can I dream about people I haven’t met yet?
During the adventure, you will find that there are holes in many places. Entering the holes will lead you to another world, which is very similar to the original world. But as the plot progresses, the game tells everyone that the world after entering the hole is the real world, and the world where he said goodbye to his sister before setting off for adventure and meeting his friends turned out to be the protagonist's dream.
The most shocking thing is that after the protagonist comes to the Redok Kingdom in the real world, he will find out that the prince of this country set out to defeat the Demon King more than a year ago. Combined with the similar faces between himself and the prince, what does this mean? If this is the case, then those who were killed and petrified by the Demon King at the beginning of the game were the princes and companions who went to defeat the Demon King more than a year ago. Then these companions who met in the dream have actually died in the battle.
In the plot, we can also find that Prince Reddock had a sister when he was a child, but unfortunately she fell ill and died young. So the protagonist who lives with his sister is actually the dream of the prince. Including the protagonist's companions, such as Hassan, in the real world in the hollow, the old carpenter couple in San Marino will reveal that their son has run away from home. But if she brings Hassan here in the future, the old carpenter’s wife will recognize Hassan as her son.
In fact, throughout this journey, Hassan has always been a very awesome person who refuses to accept anyone. Of course, he does not know the old carpenter and his wife here. But combined with the setting that the protagonist and his sister are dependent on each other, if dreams and reality are complementary, then Hassan may really be the son of a carpenter who ran away from home.
Of course, you can also think about it the other way around. The world of the protagonist is real, and the real world in the void is a dream. Then the prince and his companions who went to defeat the Demon King a year ago were actually dreams. Zhuang Sheng is obsessed with butterflies in his dream. He is Zhuang Sheng or a butterfly. This artistic conception was cleverly buried in the game 27 years ago. It is really amazing.
