How is AdGuard Content Blocker different from AdGuard for Android?
There is a huge difference. Content blockers are not limited to specific (few) browsers, but also lack effective means of ad handling. AdGuard for Android is a standalone app that blocks ads across all browsers and apps, and offers higher quality filtering.
Why doesn't AdGuard for Android appear on the Play Market?
Google has a very specific policy regarding ad blockers within the App Store. Basically, no cross-device ad blocking apps are allowed to exist, leaving vulnerable content blockers as the only option. AdGuard Removed has been removed from the App Store.
What is the difference between this version of AdGuard for Android and this version?
It does a great job of removing in-browser ads, but it doesn't filter traffic from other apps. It also doesn’t have a safe browsing feature.
I still see ads on some apps and websites. How do I do this?
Most likely you need to turn on HTTPS filtering. A large number of ads are loaded over HTTPS, and AdGuard can block them. Please go to Settings --> HTTPS Filtering and turn it on. The other thing to do is make sure you're using 'High Quality' filtering mode (Settings --> Advanced).
Do I need Root access?
No, it is not required. Unlike other ad blockers, AdGuard can work in VPN mode, and it can even block ads on non-Rooted devices.
Can AdGuard be used with other VPN applications?
Sorry, Android does not allow VPN apps to be run simultaneously. But there are other ways to bypass this restriction. If your device is rooted or you only care about ad blocking on Wi-Fi networks, you can switch AdGuard to proxy mode and let other apps use the VPN. Additionally, some VPN apps allow the use of upstream proxies (e.g. PIA VPN, Nord VPN) - please check to see if your VPN offers this option.
