This tutorial introduces the use of materials to create cover effects. Before making, you need to know some basic knowledge of packaging design. The design part mainly tests your creative thinking and PS skills. It is necessary to integrate more materials together and the effect can be very attractive if they can be perfectly integrated.

1. Press Ctrl+N to create a new file and set the dialog box as shown in Figure 1. Press Ctrl+R to display the ruler, and follow the prompts below to add guide lines to the canvas to divide various areas on the cover, as shown in Figure 2.

2. Open the texture material in the picture below, use the move tool to move it to the current file, and place it on the right side of the canvas. As shown in Figure 3, you get "Layer 1". Copy "Layer 1" to get "Layer 1 Copy", press Ctrl+T to bring up the free transformation control box to enlarge the image, move the image to the left position to cover the back cover and spine, and get the effect as shown in Figure 4 .

3. Select "Layer 1 Copy", then select "Filter" > "Blur" > "Motion Blur", and set its distance pixels to 200 pixels and its angle to 0. The effect is shown in Figure 5. Duplicate "Layer 1 Copy" to get "Layer 1 Copy 2", place it below "Layer 1", and use the Move tool to move it to the middle of the image, as shown in Figure 6.

4. Select "Copy of Layer 1", open "Sky Material", use the move tool to move it to the current canvas, and place it on the upper right side of the canvas to get the effect as shown in Figure 7, and get "Layer 2".

5. Add the layer mask as "Layer 2", select the gradient tool in the toolbox, use the linear simple tool and set the gradient type from black to white, draw a gradient line from bottom to top in the mask, and get the following The effect is shown in Figure 8. The state in the mask at this time is shown in Figure 9.

6. Open "Material 3", use the move tool to move it to the current canvas, and place it at the lower right side of the canvas to get the effect as shown in Figure 10, and get "Layer 3".

7. Add a layer mask to "Layer 3", set the foreground color to black, select the brush tool and set the appropriate brush size and opacity, and paint on the layer mask until you get what is shown in Figure 11 The effect, the state in the layer mask at this time is shown in Figure 12.
