Whether it is grassroots or website profitability, it is a very real problem. Making ends meet is not a long-term solution after all. If you want to build a long-term website, you must think about the website's profit model. In the Zhejiang webmaster group, people discuss profit models every day. A website can only develop in the long run if it follows a commercial operation route that suits it. Without profit, website development is difficult to achieve. How to make profits has become very urgent. Nowadays, industry segmentation has increasingly highlighted its advantages. The development trend of the Internet is towards localization and specialization, so local websites have gradually become the focus of the future network. As a local webmaster, how can the website make money? Here, We invite Yangguang, the webmaster of Zhejiang Webmaster Station, for everyone to listen to his opinions. Maybe it can bring you some inspiration.
Xiao Ke from Zhejiang Times: Hello Mr. Sunshine, I have heard your story for a long time. Can you share your income this month? Since you are a profitable local webmaster. You shouldn't be stingy, right? Everyone wants to hear your thoughts?
Sunshine: I really don’t dare to take profit seriously. In fact, I am still exploring the idea of profit step by step. So far, with the help of webmaster friends, I can only say that I have gained a little. It cannot be said that there are great achievements. Here I can only say that I am ahead of the curve and give you some reference. This month. Due to the impact of the economic crisis last year, our income has been affected to some extent. Especially during the last large-scale network closure, many webmasters chose to quit, which involved issues such as space service refunds. Of course the impact is only one-sided. Our income this month is 2556.8 yuan. The income list is as follows, the specific amount is not calculated.
1. Zhejiang Webmaster Station is a senior agent of Jiangxi aaaidc and China Electronics Huatong. It can sell no less than 10 spaces every month and earn 20-40 yuan for each space. This is converted into more than 300 yuan.
2. Zhejiang Webmaster Station holds small offline activities every month, and local IDC service providers in Hangzhou will participate. Naming rights will be sold in each issue according to different needs. Each naming right is about 180 yuan. Last month, China Electronics Huatong and A total of 8 service providers including Western Digital and 59 participated in the event, with a total cost of more than 800 yuan.
3. The monthly advertising cost for one advertising position on the website is 200 200*3=600
4. Website construction activities
5. The other income is mainly from the agency sales website. Each site can earn at least 100 yuan, and there is no problem in selling 10 or so pieces every month.
Xiao Ke from Zhejiang Times: I looked at the income list you just listed and found that many of them are approximations. Why are they not definite? Are there other factors? Can you talk about it in detail? I think this issue is a problem for many local stations. long-term concern.
Sunshine: This is the difference between local websites and national websites. National websites are either unprofitable or profitable. A national website is very general. It cannot do well at a certain point or a certain region unless it has the financial strength like A5. I think local websites must be rooted in the local area in order to exert their unique advantages. Therefore, since it is a local website, of course it must be rooted in the local area, focusing on the local area, and serving the local area is the basis of its survival. I did not write down specific amounts in the list above because the actual situation in each place is different. Of course, as a large Internet province, Zhejiang ranks among the top three in the country in terms of the number of people surfing the Internet and has 1 million websites. It is uniquely endowed with places, other places may be a little more difficult. However, they are very similar. The goal of the local webmaster website is to serve local webmasters, which is somewhat similar to the goal of national webmasters, but the service must be more considerate. It has local characteristics and is more in line with the taste of local webmasters.
Xiao Ke from Zhejiang Times: Well, you talked a lot, but there is one word you talked about a lot, and that is localization. Is localization guaranteed to be profitable? I think there are many local webmasters, and some of them are doing well. As far as I know, none of them make any money. What’s the reason?
Sunshine: This is not the first time I have brought up the word localization. I am just a follower, haha. I just borrowed it. The local webmasters you just mentioned may not necessarily be profitable. In fact, there are many factors that influence this, such as website operation, promotion, event planning, etc. Every factor must be taken into consideration, so I proposed at a gathering of local webmasters in Zhejiang that we should not build websites behind closed doors, but learn to go out and hide in a corner to do website work, which will only lead to a dead end. It is best for local websites to have their own team. After all, one person's ability is limited. In the process of working as a webmaster in Zhejiang, I found that there were many problems that I couldn't figure out clearly by myself. I asked my friends and they were solved immediately. Here, our Zhejiang webmaster website can't get to where it is today without the help of the veteran brothers of the Zhejiang Network Alliance. This is the truth when everyone adds firewood and the flames rise.
Xiao Ke from Zhejiang Times: I'm going too far. Sorry, I'm quite curious. You'd better talk about the profit strategies of local webmasters and talk about things that can be implemented in practice. Too much theoretical knowledge makes it difficult to operate. I think most local webmaster website operators also hope to learn something that can be operated.
Sunshine: Okay, let me briefly talk about how I came up with the list above. First of all, making a website profitable is based on a certain degree of popularity. Just like a child, if you let him run before he learns to walk, he will definitely not be able to run. Even if you run, you will definitely fall. Therefore, the word profit only applies to sites with a certain amount of traffic. Our Zhejiang webmaster started to consider the issue of profitability only after the global Alexa ranking reached 300,000. We only pulled the first advertisement after our traffic increased. Of course, some people will ask how the traffic increased. There are many such articles. My suggestion is that content is king and the service is in place. Of course, it will take a period of accumulation. After your website traffic and popularity increase, you can try to cooperate with a space service provider to help them sell space as an agent and earn some income from it. This is also the source of our first income. The second one is to hold events. For example, the last time our Zhejiang webmaster station held: Hurricane 2010 local webmaster meeting, more than 200 webmasters came, and a lot of them were sponsored. Our last sponsorship has been till now None of it has been used up, and the remaining money can be used for investment. I won’t go into details here about how to promote advertisements on the website, as well as website construction services and agency sales websites. In short, you still need the trust of your local webmaster friends.
Xiao Ke from Zhejiang Times: Are there any other ideas that you think can be profitable? Just list a few.
Sunshine: Thousands of people have summarized a lot of profit ideas, but it still depends on how you personally operate. I will list a few points that may be useful for your reference:
1. Government affairs and business. Such as investment promotion, tourism services, economic and trade negotiations, project bidding, government bidding, government procurement, news, information release, etc.
2. Enterprise services. Corporate yellow pages, corporate website production, corporate product display and promotion, new product introduction, evaluation, etc.
3. Information intermediary services. Information consulting business: intermediary paid services of local market information and promotional information on patents, technologies, projects, etc.
4. Online games. Join the online game business
5. Franchise projects or products. Use the advantages of your own media to join the local promotion and sales of projects or products from member units of the China Webmaster Alliance or other units across the country.
6. Network value-added. Business domain name, corporate website production, corporate email, virtual space business, etc.
7. Training services As enterprises are thirsty for Internet and e-commerce knowledge, operation centers in various regions can set up various e-commerce training courses, which can directly make profits through training and cultivate prospective customers.
8. Online transactions include online ordering, online auctions, paid information services, etc.
Although there seem to be many profit points, in the end, there is only one profit model, which is service. As long as we persist in providing local netizens with better services that meet their needs through the platform of local webmaster websites, then , the profit points will be flexible and changeable, and endless innovation can be carried out.
Xiao Ke from Zhejiang Times: I would like to thank Mr. Yang Guang, the Zhejiang webmaster, for participating. I believe this talk will provide some help to many local webmasters. This conversation with you will be published in Zhejiang Times-IT Ranking. Thank you again for your participation.
Sunshine: You're welcome. Happy cooperation and goodbye!
