This series can be regarded as one of my reading notes - "Professional Search Engine Optimization with ASP.NET: A Developer's Guide to SEO" in the WROX Red Book Series. I think it's quite good. The first is that it is more systematic and authoritative; the second is that it is different from the general theoretical introduction of SEO, it focuses on the implementation of asp.net technology! Recommend it. In addition, because it is a foreigner's book, the so-called search engine does not actually include Baidu, but mainly targets Google and Yahoo.
Maybe many programmers don't value or understand SEO very much, but for countless grassroots webmasters (including spammy webmasters, haha) and many small and medium-sized enterprises who want to do online marketing, SEO is simply a basic skill for getting started. But regarding the basic knowledge of SEO, I will stop here because there are too many similar articles on the Internet. I will focus on the technical aspects.
But I still hope to share some of my own experiences with you:
When you read a certain amount of SEO information, you will find that there are different opinions on the same issue and no consensus.
This is actually mainly caused by the following reasons:
1. Many SEO techniques are "speculated" and can be regarded as a summary of experience at most. Because it is impossible for search engines to completely disclose their ranking algorithms, it is a matter of opinion.
2. So is there any authoritative statement? There are still some. Both Baidu and Google have similar "website optimization" guidance. Baidu does it relatively simply, see http://www.baidu.com/search/guide.html , while Google has created a special "website optimization" guide. "Administrator Center", see http://www.google.com/intl/zh-CN/webmasters/ , has a blog, forum and some very useful tools. However, there are still many people who do not believe in the "official" or think that there are "loopholes" to be exploited...
3. "As the road goes high, so does the devil." It is true that many people turn to the "loopholes" of search engines, but search engines are not stupid, and are always making adjustments, so sometimes I feel that the history of SEO, It's like a history of the struggle between SEOers and search engines. There are always some SEO techniques that are "outdated" and "invalid", but there are always new SEO techniques that will emerge...
4. In addition, search engines are also constantly developing in search technology. For example, it was initially difficult for search engines to include dynamic web pages, but now this problem has almost been completely overcome (URLRewrite will be discussed in more detail later) road).
So, basically, there are two strategies for doing SEO. The first is to always stand in front of the search engines, looking for loopholes that can be exploited, "fighting with the sky, the earth, and the search engines, it is endless fun"; the second is to cooperate with the search engines and follow the search results The way the engine guides is to take it one step at a time and do it consistently.
I chose the second option, mainly because I think my intelligence is limited, haha, and my energy is also limited. In addition, I am also gradually adjusting my mentality towards SEO, and "have a normal heart". I just don't do stupid things or bad things, that is, optimizing for search engines and users. After all, a mature website cannot rely entirely on search engines. Baidu's reputation is getting worse and worse. Google threatens to withdraw from China. Who can say clearly about the future world? It is still necessary to strengthen ourselves, form our own characteristics, provide value to customers, and form our own brand.
Okay, let’s take a look at what this book says about the basics of SEO!
1. Link value. Links refer to URLs. For example, because Lao Zhao’s blog is frequently updated, all original, and has great content, it is often cited by many other web pages (such as my blog). Over time, the URL of Lao Zhao’s blog becomes very Have "value", so cherish them. If one day, Lao Zhao creates a new blog and copies the content of the original blog to the new blog. Although the content of the new blog and the old blog are exactly the same, if some special measures are not taken: 1. Search engines do not know the relationship between Lao Zhao’s new blog and the old blog, 2. All previous links pointing to Lao Zhao’s old blog are not It can be used again, so the URL of the new blog cannot inherit the "value" of the original blog URL. The main purpose of "content redirection" later in this series is to preserve the value of these links.
2. PageRank. Simply put, it is Google’s grading assessment of the value of each web page link. The higher the link value, the higher the level, and under the same conditions, the higher the search engine ranking will be. Of course, some people now believe that the importance of PageRank is gradually declining.
3. Availability and accessibility.
Then, the factors that affect search engine rankings:
Internal factors:
1. Visible on-page factors:
title: Note that each page must have a title, but it should not be the same.
heading: Such as <h1><h2>...the title tag will make search engines pay more attention to the content.
Page content: “appropriate” (I don’t know what constitutes appropriate!) keyword density
Link Warning: Be careful not to point to spam sites. Links to your page mean
Keywords in URL and domain name: Chinese websites can ignore this item
Internal link structure and anchors: They can guide Google spiders to deeper links, but you still have to be careful not to make the links too deep. The link topology of the website should be as flat as possible, rather than vertical.
Overall site topology: still flat and content relevant
2. Invisible on-page factors:
Meta Description:
Meta Key:
Once upon a time, this was a skill; now, it's common sense. If your page does not have these two elements, it will be difficult for people to believe that you are doing SEO.
Alt and title: quite useful for pictures
Page structure: "Using block structural units as you wish may be harmful." My understanding is that <h1>, <div>, and <p> have a certain semantic value to spiders. For example, spiders will think that <h1> means Titles carry greater weight when building keyword indexes.
3. Time factor: It is certain that sites with a long history, including pages, domain names and links, will definitely have higher value.
External factors:
1. Inbound links: quantity, quality, relevance, location, etc. Be careful not to try to deceive Google spider "link exchange" and so on.
2. Web standards compatibility: It seems to be more and more important now!
Harmful factors:
1. Google Sandbox Effect: Widely circulated but without authoritative proof. To put it simply, Google will observe new websites for a period of time (it is said to be usually 6 months). During this period, new websites will not be included in large numbers.
2. Expired domain name penalty: Using an expired domain name to launch a new website can be used to avoid domain name penalties in the past. Not anymore!
3. Duplicate content penalty: This is very important! A large amount of duplicate content should be avoided in the site, and there will be a dedicated chapter to explain this later.
4. Google Supplementary Index:
