It is normal for a Mercedes-Benz to make a clicking sound when it brakes suddenly. It is usually related to the friction and vibration between the brake pads and the brake disc. Although this sound sometimes makes car owners feel uneasy, as long as there are no other abnormalities in the braking system, the clicking sound is not a problem. It does not mean there is a serious problem with the brake system.
1. The braking system of a Mercedes-Benz is mainly composed of brake shoes, brake discs, brake pads and brake boosters.
2. When the brake pedal is depressed, the brake booster will provide assistance to transfer the braking force to the brake pads and brake discs, thereby braking the vehicle.
3. When we brake suddenly , the kinetic energy of the vehicle will be quickly converted into the energy of the braking system . At this time, some friction and vibration may occur between the brake pads and the brake disc.
4. Since the surfaces of the brake pads and brake discs are not completely flat, there will be a small gap between them during the braking process.
5. During emergency braking, due to the large braking force , the brake pads will violently collide with the brake disc, resulting in a clicking sound.
6. The braking system will also be affected by some external factors during its working process, such as the degree of wear of the brake pads, deformation of the brake disc, failure of the brake booster, etc.
7. When the brake pads are worn to a certain extent, the contact area with the brake disc will decrease, thereby increasing the collision force during braking, resulting in a clicking sound.
8. If the brake disc is deformed , it will cause the brake pads to contact the brake disc unevenly during the braking process, which will also produce a clicking sound.
9. In addition, the failure of the brake booster may also cause abnormal sounds during the braking process.
10. The vehicle's usage environment and driving habits will also have an impact on the braking system. High temperature and humid environments can easily cause the water on the brake pads to evaporate, resulting in a clicking sound when braking.
11. Overly hasty driving habits and frequent sudden braking may also increase the friction between the brake pads and the brake disc, resulting in a clicking sound.
