Apple has released the first developer beta version of iOS 18.2, and the most eye-catching new feature is the integration of Siri and ChatGPT. This integration will significantly enhance Siri’s ability to understand and answer complex questions about content on a device’s screen, such as identifying buildings in a photo or the location where a video was shot. Downcodes editors will give you an in-depth look at this exciting update and other new features of iOS 18.2.
Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 18.2, which includes many new Apple Intelligence features. One of the new features is the long-awaited integration with ChatGPT, with which you can now ask Siri for details about what you see on your device's screen.
By integrating ChatGPT into Siri, Apple's virtual assistant will use the OpenAI platform to answer complex questions. However, it can also read content on your iPhone, iPad or Mac screen. For example, if you're watching a video or looking at someone's photo on Instagram, you can ask questions like "Where is this?" or "What's the building in that photo?"

Siri takes a screenshot and uploads it to ChatGPT, which understands the context and provides an answer using its database. Of course, for privacy reasons, Siri will always ask for your permission before taking a screenshot of your device and sending it to ChatGPT.
This feature is especially interesting for people who don't have an iPhone 16, which is the only device to get Visual Intelligence so far. With this feature, users can press Camera Control to get information about what they see on the camera. Visual Intelligence uses Apple Intelligence, ChatGPT, and Google to provide answers.

In addition to ChatGPT integration, iOS 18.2 also comes with Image Playground, Genmoji, and a redesigned Mail app.
Currently, the iOS 18.2 beta is only available for Apple Intelligence-compatible devices. This means iPhone15Pro or later and M1iPad or later. Of course, the update will eventually be available for other devices as well.
Apple has previously hinted that iOS 18.2 will be released to the public in December. iOS 18.1 will be released next week and will include Apple's smart writing tools as well as notifications and text summaries.
The iOS 18.2 update brings many exciting new features that not only enhance the usefulness of Siri, but also improve the overall user experience. The editor of Downcodes is looking forward to the release of the official version and will continue to pay attention to subsequent updates.
