3. Preparatory work before production-defining the website
Before officially starting to create web pages, it is best to define a new website first. This is to better utilize the site window to manage site files.

Method 1: Select the last item Define Sites from the drop-down menu in the site window, as shown below.
A new dialog box will pop up. Click the New button to define a new website. If you need to redefine the old website in the future, you can select the website you need to redefine in the website list on the left, and then click the Edit button. .
Method 2: Select the command menu Site > New Site option.
Basic settings
In the next dialog box, you need to make the following three simple settings:
① Site Name: Give your website a name. This name only plays a role in identification and has nothing to do with the real name of the website after it is published. For example, the name here is: "My Website", but actually I The website is called "Internet Guide";
② Local Root: Set the location of the website on the local hard disk. Click the folder icon at the back to select any directory on the hard disk as the directory to store website files;
③ Cache: Establishing a cache can greatly speed up site management operations such as moving, renaming, and searching files, so it is recommended that you check this box here.
After completion, return to the site window and you will see a screen similar to the following:
You can see that the name "My Website" has already appeared in the site window. Because it is a newly created site, the local directory is blank.
After the site is defined, you can officially create your own web page.
