Compared with others, hair is a relatively cumbersome production process. Here I introduce a relatively simple production method using a homemade brush.
1 Press Ctrl+N to create a new transparent image with a size of 20x20 pixels [The size of the image can be changed according to the drawing requirements. Use the magnification tool to maximize the image, select the brush tool - the pen thickness is 1 pixel, and place it on the canvas Draw a few points at will. Note: Try not to overlap between points. As shown in the picture:
Then click the Edit menu bar, define the picture made above as a brush, and name it Brush 1
Note: The brush 1 here is composed of 1-pixel dots. You can also customize a 2-pixel brush as needed, and so on 2. After making the brush, we can start drawing the character's hair. Create a new 500x400 pixel Use the feather brush tool with a pen thickness of 65 pixels and a color of R98 G69 B12. Create a new layer and draw lines on the canvas at will. As shown in the picture:
3 Create a new layer, use custom brush 1, adjust the brush spacing to 1%, the color is R164 G97 B11, and then draw the following effect on the canvas. [This process depends on everyone’s proficiency in using the mouse, as shown in the picture:
Then right-click the menu on this layer, select Blending Options, and the layer style panel will pop up. The settings are as shown below:
4 Create a new layer and make the palette color lighter, here it is R180 G107 B13. Repeat the third step and change the shadow transparency to 28%. The effect is as shown in the figure:
5 Create a new layer, fill it with black, and place it at the bottom. 6 Create a new layer, use a 1-pixel brush, and set the brush color to R204 G123 B18. Draw a few strokes on the canvas as shown:
7 Create a new layer, double-click the layer to pop up the layer style panel, and change the layer transparency to 20%. Use a 65-pixel feathering brush with a black color, and click a few times on the areas where the hair needs to be darkened [This process must be controlled by yourself. As shown in the picture:
8 Create a new layer, change the layer transparency to 50%, and repeat step 7. As shown in the picture:
9 Merge all layers [You can save the file as another file first for backup. 10 Use the blur tool to appropriately blur the back of the hair close to the background. 11 Use the sharpening tool - a feathering effect with a pen thickness of 17. Properly sharpen the front few strands of hair. Finally, you can use a paintbrush to add a few hair strands of other colors where needed. In this way, the production of hair is basically completed [you can also make additional adjustments as needed. The final effect is as shown below:
