I once posted a post about painting peonies, and some friends asked for explanations of the specific process. Now I am posting this tutorial, hoping it will be helpful to my beginner friends. Let’s look at the effect first:
1 Create a new 700*530 white canvas with a resolution of 96.
2 Open the path panel, and create three new paths, four in total, named Petal 1, Petal 2, and Leaves and Branches.
3 Use the pen tool to draw paths as shown in Figure 1/2/3/4.
4 Click on the Petal 1 path, return to the Layers panel and create a new layer named Petal 1, press Ctrl+Enter, turn the path into a selection, and fill it with light gray #C8C8C8
Use the burn/dodge tool to apply highlights and shadows as shown in Figure 5
5 Copy, arrange and deform as shown in Figure 6
6 Create a new layer of famous flower heart, and use a hard brush of 5 pixels to point out the flower heart as shown in Figure 7.
7 Execute bevel relief as shown in Figure 8.
Parameter settings are shown in Figure 9
8 Create a new layer named Petal 2. Use the method of Petal 1 to make Petal 2. Copy, arrange and deform it as shown in Figure 10.
9. Carefully adjust the shape, angle, and layer position of each petal, then close the background layer, merge all petals, and rename flower 1 as shown in Figure 11.
10 Make perspective adjustments as appropriate. As shown in Figure 12
11 Copy Flower 1 and Name Flower 2, shrink it and move it to the upper right. As shown in Figure 13.
12 Create a new layer named leaves, open the path panel and click on the leaf path as shown in Figure 14
13 Return to the layer panel, press Ctrl+Enter to convert it into a selection, and fill it with a radial gradient as shown in Figure 15
14 Ctrl+D cancels the selection. Load the leaf path again and use the path selection tool (black arrow) to select the edge of the leaf path.
Press Delete to delete (Figure 16).
Leave the middle part and press Ctrl+Enter to convert it into a selection and then fill it with dark gray as shown in Figure 17.
15 Create a new branch layer as before and fill it with black as shown in Figure 18
16 Execute filter/sketch/note paper as shown in Figure 19.
17 Invert/Levels, enhance the contrast. Then use the burn/dodge tool to create a three-dimensional effect.
18 Now the flowers, leaves, and branches are all done. Next, copy/move, arrange, and combine, and then use color levels to adjust the leaves to create
Highlight and shadow effects. As shown in Figure 20.
19. Use the butterfly brush to draw two butterflies and you are done.
