Tools used in this issue: Photoshop’s Lasso Tool and Liquify Tool. Their combination can help you change the shape of objects in photos.
Select hair prep materials
Press the shortcut key "Ctrl+O" to open the material file. The girl's short hair with eyebrows looks pretty and cute. But how would it feel if she had long, flowing hair? Would she be a pure lady, or would she be the type that everyone loves?
1. First select the lasso tool in the toolbox (step 1 in Figure 1), and roughly select the hair on both sides of the girl. We have three lasso tools that can be used, they are "hand-controlled lasso", "polygonal lasso" "Lose" and "Magnetic Lasso". The hand-controlled lasso tool can be used to select irregularly shaped graphics, and the polygonal lasso tool can be used to select irregular polygonal graphics. Here we use the polygonal lasso to make irregular polygonal shapes (as shown in Figure 1). It can also be used to select some complex, sharp-edged graphics with straight edges. The Magnetic Lasso tool can be used to select irregular shapes that contrast well with the background.

Caicai's turnaround technique: If you want to select two non-connected selections at the same time, you must click "Add to selection" in step 1 of Figure 1 and set the feathering to 1px.
2. Press the shortcut key "Ctrl+J" on the keyboard to copy and paste the selected part to a new layer. The default form is "Layer 1" (Step 2 in Figure 1). The purpose of this is to make long hair later. Prepare materials.
Short hair becomes longer and "liquefaction" helps
The Liquify filter can be used to push, pull, rotate, reflect, fold and expand any area of an image. The distortions you create can be subtle or dramatic, making the Liquify command a powerful tool for retouching images and creating artistic effects.
1. Select the "Filter" → "Liquify" option in the menu to pop up the Liquify dialog box, set the brush size, brush density and brush pressure, and also set the "View Options". Check Set Background and set Opacity. The purpose is to have a reference when lengthening the hair, so as not to do it too blindly. The above operations are marked in step 1 of Figure 2.
Figure 2
We have seen that there are many liquefied brushes available, such as the commonly used "forward deformation tool" (warp tool). Using this tool, the image will be distorted according to the direction of movement, and then squeezed at the end point of the movement. There is also the "reconstruct tool". If the result is not satisfactory when we create distortion effects, the reconstruction tool can help restore the image to its original appearance. We also commonly use the "bloat tool", which makes the image expand outward.
2. Here we want to use the "Forward Transform Tool", because this tool pushes the pixels forward when dragging the mouse, which can well simulate the effect of natural hair on the human head. Interested readers can also try other tools, which may also achieve unexpected results. Select the "Forward Transform Tool" in the toolbox (Step 2 in Figure 2).
3. You can place the cursor at the hair on the right side of the girl, set the brush size according to the size of the object to be deformed, and then use the "Forward Transformation Tool" to keep dragging the short hair downward. You can do this several times until the short hair is lengthened. (See step 3 in Figure 2 above).
During the process of dragging forward, be sure to retain the original light and dark relationship of the hair image as much as possible, so that the effect will be more natural. Also be careful not to cover the girl's face, this is the benefit of showing the background and setting transparency.
The hair on the left side is also lengthened in the same way. Before stretching, be sure to adjust the size of the brush and set a slightly smaller brush to do the stretching. Press the "OK" button to see the finished effect.
4. The final effect is shown in Figure 3, and a head of black and shiny hair is completed. Take a look, is she the one you have loved for a long time?
