Photoshop to create super cool meteor effect

1. First create a new document. I used 300 x 500 pixels here and then used the Gradient Tool to fill it with a gradient from black to dark blue.

2. Now, select the Brush Tool and adjust the size of the brush between 180-240 and set the hardness of the brush to 0. Then, create a new layer and use a brush to click on the bright spots at the bottom of the image. Just like below

3. Create a new color adjustment layer, (Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance):

4. In the adjustment layer, please select the highlights in the tone adjustment first, and then make adjustments. Enter the following values ​​​​in the color balance levels: -30, 5, 70

5. Click OK to return to the image. It should now look like this:

6. Create a layer and place it below the Color Balance adjustment layer. Now, use the Brush Tool to set its size to about 28 pixels and its hardness to 0 pixels. Hold down the SHIFT key and pull a straight line segment from the bottom to the center of the canvas. For those who don’t have good control over the center position, please use the reference line to make a quick cut. The key is CTRL+R.

7. Create a new layer, choose a larger brush, size around 200-300, and set the hardness to 0. Place it at 3 on the first layer

8. Select the Smudge tool from the toolbar. Set the intensity to 50% and select some irregular shapes from the brush toolbar to paint. At the beginning, apply from the outside, and when it expands a bit, drag from the inside to the outside. Making this adjustment may take some time.

9. Select the Eraser tool from the Tools group. Set the opacity of the eraser tool to 10%, then select an irregular-shaped brush from the brush tab bar, set the brush size between 30-50, and then click anywhere on it, click more outside. . This will add some foggy, blurry texture to it:

10. Create a layer, place it on top of the original first layer, and then tap a few times on the image to make it look like this:

11. Use the method introduced above, first use the smudge tool to smear, and then use the eraser to create a messy and blurry texture as shown below:

12. Now, select a small brush with a size of about 3-5 pixels and a hardness of 0. Open the brush palette option and check the three options of "Dynamic Shape, Spread, and Smooth" and make the following settings for it》 The settings for the dynamic shape are as follows: size jitter is 100%, control mode is fade, fade value: 300%, minimum diameter is 3, angle jitter 10% control: off, roundness jitter: 6%, control: off Minimum roundness: 25

The settings for Scatter are as follows: Scatter Value is 1000%, Control: Off, Amount: 1, Amount Jitter: 100%, Control: Off. The smoothing option is set to default

13. Now, create a new layer, use the brush we just set, and start dragging upward from the center of the light. Please be sure to drag it in a curved way, otherwise it will not be the same.

In the following picture, I added some additional steps myself, so I won’t go into details about the method. Roughly speaking, the tools and commands used include the pen tool, brush tool, and shear filter. You can use the method I introduced to create the final effect. .
