This tutorial introduces a simple color correction method for grayscale photos. When color grading, masks are used many times to achieve local color grading. The background and characters need to be processed separately.

1. Open the original image material, press Ctrl + J to copy the background layer, and then execute: Filter > Pixelate > Mosaic. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 1. After confirmation, execute: Filter > Artistic Effect > Painting Smudge. The parameter settings are as shown in Figure 2, then add a layer mask and erase the characters and house parts with a black brush. The effect is as shown in Figure 3.

2. Create a new layer, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer, then change the layer blending mode to "Soft Light", add a layer mask and use a black brush to erase the character part, the effect is as follows Figure 4.

3. Create a brightness/contrast adjustment layer. Set the parameters as shown in Figure 5. After confirming, use a black brush to erase the character part. The effect is as shown in Figure 6.

4. Create a hue/saturation adjustment layer. Set the parameters as shown in Figure 7. After confirming, use a black brush to erase the character part.

5. Create a curve adjustment layer. Set the parameters as shown in Figure 9 and 10. After confirming, only keep the character part and erase the other parts with a black brush. The effect is as shown in Figure 11.
