Lin Qizhe’s words : This tutorial teaches you how to use Photoshop’s built-in filters to create a puzzle effect from a cute picture of children. Unfortunately, the materials provided in the original tutorial are relatively small, but you can find your own materials or use your own photos to create this effect. The material requirements are that the width should be more than 1600 pixels (if it is too small, you will find it difficult to perform subsequent operations). In addition, try to choose pictures with richer background colors, so that the final puzzle effect will be better...

Step 1: Open the material picture, press the [Ctrl+J] keys to copy the layer (this way, even if we make a mistake, there will be no damage to the original layer), and name the new layer [Puzzle]. Click the [Create New Layer] button below the layers palette to create a new layer and name it [Background Color]. Then move the [Background Color] layer between the [Puzzle] and [Background] layers, as shown in the picture below.
Tip: Hold down the [Ctrl] key and click the [Create New Layer] button below the layer palette. The newly created layer will appear on the second layer instead of on top of all layers. In this example, the step of adjusting the layer order is omitted, you can try it.
Step 2: Set the foreground color to black, select the [Background Color] layer, and press the [Alt+Del] keys to fill the layer with black. At this time, you cannot see any changes in the picture because the content of the [Background Color] layer is obscured by the [Puzzle] layer. Reactivate the [Puzzle] layer and execute the [Filter - Texture - Texture] command. In the pop-up [Texture] dialog box, click the "small triangle" button on the right and select "Load Texture", as shown in the figure below.
At this time, a [Load Texture] dialog box will pop up. Then find the [Texture] folder in the Photoshop installation directory, then select the [Puzzle.Psd] file, and click the [Open] button to load the texture. As shown below.
Lin Qizhe’s tip: The installation directory of Photoshop is generally X:Program filesAdobePhotoshop CS3. X represents the drive letter. Generally, the software will be installed in the C drive by default. In addition, "Texture" means "texture" in Chinese, and "Puzzle" means puzzle in Chinese.
Step 3: After loading the texture, adjust the parameter settings, as shown in the figure below. (Lin Qi Zhe’s words: The zoom here is 200%. In fact, you can adjust it according to the size of the picture you choose. If your picture is relatively small, then this parameter can be adjusted below 100%)
After adjusting the parameters, click the [OK] button. The effect is as shown in the figure below.
Step 4: Select the [Pen Tool] in the toolbox, select the [Path] mode in the option bar, and draw a path as shown below along the shape of a puzzle piece.
Step 5: Press the [Ctrl+Enter] keys to convert the path into a selection. Execute the [Layer-New-By-Cut Layer] command to cut this puzzle piece into a new layer, and let's rename it [Puzzle 1].
