In Windows 7, open Disk Management, click on a disk partition (it is not recommended to create a new partition from the system disk), select "Compress Volume" in the pop-up menu (Figure 1), the system will pop up a prompt box , informing the user that the system is acquiring compressible space (Figure 2).

Figure 2
The prompt message in Figure 2 says "query the volume to obtain available compression space". In fact, the system is calculating that there is still large space in the current partition that can be divided, allowing the user to create a new disk partition.
When the interface shown in Figure 3 appears (that is, the system calculates the space size that can create a new partition), click the "Compress" button. After a while, you will find that Windows 7 has a new space marked in green (Figure 4).

Figure 4
As can be seen from Figure 4, the current space that can be used to create a new partition is 91.6GB. Right-click it, and then in the pop-up new partition boot window, follow the prompts to complete the new disk partition.
Comments:
Compared with Windows XP, Windows 7 has changed the way of creating new partitions in disk management. After understanding this change, anyone can easily create new disk partitions under Windows 7. If you want to merge the newly created partition with the previous partition (see Figure 4), right-click the previous partition, select "Extend Volume", and then follow the system prompts to complete the operation.
