Since this year, website registration has undoubtedly been a top priority in the IDC industry. The policy has been implemented for nearly a year. How many websites have been closed due to failure to register?
On October 28, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Department of Communications Development revealed a set of important data when reporting on the operation of the communications industry in the third quarter. As of September 2010, the number of unregistered websites closed by the three operators reached more than 3,000 and 22,000. Overseas pornographic websites are blocked, and CNNIC has completed verification of information authenticity for a total of 4.686 million domain names, stopped parsing 636,000 unregistered domain names, and stopped parsing 5,200 pornographic domain names.
It can be seen from the data that unregistered websites are compared with pornographic websites because website registration is closely related to pornographic websites. At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology comprehensively blocked and cracked down on pornographic websites, thus increasing the enforcement of website registration. Tens of thousands of websites were destroyed as a result, including a large number of legitimate websites that were also affected by the "one size fits all" policy.
Regarding mobile phone pornography, Zhang Feng, director of the Communications Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that 1,915 mobile phone charging companies were investigated one by one, and 237 access companies with irregular procedures and problematic qualifications were eliminated. In order to achieve a joint crackdown on pornographic websites, the joint management of blacklisted enterprises on pornographic websites will be fully implemented, and a cross-provincial collaborative processing mechanism will be launched at the same time.
Behind this series of data involves the interest group behind the high-pressure policy—webmasters. A webmaster recently wrote an article with emotion, saying that for individual webmasters, this is an era of wearing masks and dancing on the tip of a knife. And that sharp knife is undoubtedly the ever-changing Internet regulatory policies, because it is not uncommon for a website to die under one policy.
Zhang Feng also disclosed the implementation of relevant Internet policies, including a comprehensive suspension of marketing cooperation for Internet channel businesses; strict implementation of unregistered websites not being accessed; but one of the eye-catching items is that there are layers of 743 network access service providers 89 properties with sub-lease issues were vacated;
Accordingly, the well-known domestic IDC service provider China No.com stated that website registration also involves a series of interest chain issues, and it is difficult for regulatory entities to hold accountable the servers during the layer-by-layer subleasing process. Since this year, the inability of individuals to register .cn domain names, the cumbersome process of website registration, and high operating costs have led many small and medium-sized webmasters to transfer their servers overseas, but there are also a very small number of pornographic websites hidden among them. Since website registration work can only be handled by formal access service providers, informal access service providers often become a safe haven for overseas pornographic websites to avoid supervision.
In recent years, the number of pornographic websites has increased day by day. The reason is not only the neglect of supervision or intentional indulgence of access service providers, but also the use of various means such as changing or jumping domain names to evade supervision. Therefore, Internet regulatory policies have been tightening with no signs of relaxation, which has led to criticism among webmaster groups about website registration.
But there are also more rational views. Some webmasters said that friends who fell down due to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s policy, while you are complaining, have you reflected on yourselves? The policy used to be loose, but now why don't we follow the regulations? The policy is like a sharp knife. Under the same environment, millions of websites have to accept the survival of the fittest. No matter who is at fault, no matter how many grievances there are, we can only follow it. If you don't want to stand up, you can only be eliminated without any reason. Survival of the fittest.
Some people in the industry said that it is understandable that webmasters are dissatisfied. Because it is a definite fact that regulatory policies have many unreasonable aspects, it is important to refine the various provisions of the policy and make reasonable distinctions between different entities. Change the "one-size-fits-all" approach to suppression, regulate the Internet, and ultimately guide it in the direction of benign development.
