After several years of development, SEO has become popular. More and more people are joining the ranks of learning SEO, and there is an increasingly popular trend. However, SEO has not started in China for a long time. Coupled with the national conditions and the uneven knowledge articles on the Internet, many newcomers have taken many detours in the learning process. Of course, I am not an SEO master. I only started learning SEO in 2008, which is relatively late. I have also gone through detours in the process, so I have certain experience in this area. Some people may say that now that SEO has become popular, what else is there to learn? You should learn online marketing. What I want to say is that SEO itself is the content of online marketing, and it will always be the most cost-effective way in online marketing. , SEO will never be outdated, it will only be upgraded. Here I would like to share with friends who want to learn SEO how to learn SEO systematically.
First of all, if you want to learn SEO, you must understand what SEO is. SEO is the abbreviation of Search Engine Optimization. Many times we enter into a misunderstanding and think that SEO is keyword ranking. In fact, it is not the case. In my opinion, SEO is through adjustment. The structure and content of the website allow search engines to better index the website and accurately know what the theme of the website is. At the same time, it improves user experience so that users can understand what your website does and what it is used for.
SEO is a systematic project. I suggest that you read some books or e-books about search engine principles before learning SEO (I will provide a PDF document at the end of the article). Of course, you do not need to study in depth about search engine technology. We only need to understand its indexing, retrieval and word segmentation principles. Why do you need to understand this? Because everything remains the same. The update and upgrade of search algorithms are also based on these foundations, and their principles will not change. In fact, many knowledge points can be found on the Internet. We must also learn to use search more. If we encounter a problem that cannot be solved, search it quickly. Don’t always think about asking others to help solve it. If you really can’t solve it by searching, then ask for advice. Someone else.
In fact, I have written before about simplifying the basics of SEO to only three points, namely: structure + content + links. How do we master these? I will explain in detail below.
1. Website structure
How to build a good website structure. The necessary knowledge you need to master here is HTML code, CSS, W3C standards and website procedures. Of course, I don’t require everyone to learn everything, but at least you must be able to understand the basics. HTML code can help you understand the direction of the website after understanding the principles of search engines. In fact, it is best for us to understand the technology ourselves. After all, communication with programmers or artists sometimes has certain obstacles.
In addition to these, you also need to understand some server configurations to improve website opening speed; database and CMS optimization to improve web page loading speed, etc. There are also website duplicate page processing, signal-to-noise ratio processing, etc. Therefore, it is best to master web-related technologies, which will allow us to optimize the structure of the website with twice the result with half the effort.
2. Website content
The content of the website is undoubtedly based on user experience. You must always think about whether the articles or posts I publish are helpful to users and whether they can solve their problems. Search engines like original content. We all know this, but in fact this is only relative. We think from the user's perspective. If there is the same article on two websites, but website A tells this article There are many people, and website B does not tell anyone, then users will only know that this article is on website A, which of course means website A is useful to users, and these search engines can judge it. This is also something we will talk about below.
3. Website link
Website links are divided into internal links and external links, which are also based on the knowledge you need to know at the beginning, such as search engine indexing and crawler principles and web related technologies.
Only after understanding the principles of indexing can we know how to layout the links of the website. For example, after the search crawler enters the homepage of the website, how to let it crawl to important pages quickly, how to let it know what topic your page is related to, how to increase the depth of its crawling, and how to prevent it from crawling invalid pages to improve the efficiency of crawling. Efficiency etc.
For external links, as I mentioned above, if your website is known to many people, then you are useful to users. So how to let more people know it is to build external links. But external links must pay attention to relevance. Why is this? Because the place you let users know is also on a certain website (so that search engines can judge), then the users browsing on this website must be related to the theme of your website, so that your website can be relevant to the corresponding users. Only by matching can you judge whether your website is helpful to these users. This is why external links play a great role in SEO.
Of course, these are basic things. We should also learn data analysis capabilities, which are also basic skills that SEO personnel must master. These include the analysis of website logs to understand how search spiders crawl on the website; the other is the analysis of competitors, which is something that must be done before optimizing a website, to accurately analyze your competitors. situation, how his website is made, why it ranks at the top, and what work he has done, all must have a detailed data model, which also includes the research of keywords; and the analysis of website visit data , this requires understanding the user’s access to the website, what keywords they searched for, which pages they browsed, which pages they stayed on for a long time, and whether they left relevant comments. These can help further optimize our website. Progress of work.
Then we also need to understand the relevant search engines. For this, you can refer to the optimization guides released by search engines. For example, GOOGLE and Baidu have released their corresponding official optimization guides. I would recommend everyone to read these carefully, although Baidu may technically have Some defects cannot fully meet the standards of the guidelines it publishes, but it must be working hard in this direction.
In addition to these skills that must be mastered, we must also have strong execution ability and be able to boldly practice the SEO knowledge or new ideas we have mastered. Only through continuous practice can we continuously improve and make ourselves clear through experiments. Know what factors influence rankings.
