Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed some information about the Windows 8 operating system at Dell World.
When Ballmer talked about the Metro interface of Windows 8 system, he talked about the four main features of this interface.
1. Processes can still be displayed even when the screen is locked
Even though the operating system is locked, users can still see notifications about what tasks are pending and will be notified of emails, social network posts, and other updates as soon as they log back in.
2. The Metro interface patch section can be customized
The developer preview version of Windows 8 has already shown the new Metro splash screen to the world, and Ballmer took the time to highlight this new feature again. Ballmer said that users can rearrange various program sections (tiles) on the screen through drag-and-drop operations. Of course, among all the new features of Windows 8, the Metro interface is likely to attract a lot of attention and complaints from Windows users.
3. The Metro interface will also change
In a recent Windows 8 blog post, Windows Live President Steven Sinofsky said he had received some user dissatisfaction with the new Metro user interface. Some criticized the interface for not offering the flexibility of the traditional Windows Start menu and organizing the new screens. Others complain that the Windows 8 touch Start menu is based on smartphones and tablets, but there's no room for a keyboard and mouse on a PC.
In this regard, Microsoft reminds users that the "Start" menu seen in the Win8 developer preview version is by no means the final version of Win8. The company said it has adjusted features to address concerns and issues among some user groups.
4. Customized news data can be updated instantly
At the Dell World Congress, Ballmer also demonstrated for the audience how to "extract" data from the stock market report and display it in a separate patch and keep it constantly updated. Microsoft said that the Live section of the Metro interface will provide users with the latest information in a timely manner without leaving the scope of the project on the screen.
