It has been 2 months since I started building a website. For a webmaster, it involves everything from purchasing domain names to space, from CMS system research to SEO, and from traffic to conversion rate research. I found that to be a qualified webmaster, you really need to learn a lot of knowledge, and you need to keep your knowledge updated in a timely manner, because the Internet changes so fast.
I remember that when I first bought a domain name 2 months ago, I was confused by the variety of domestic domain name providers. Wanwang's was too expensive, and cheap agents were afraid to buy it. In the end, I decided to buy a domain name just in time for the promotion. Now that I have the domain name, there is still the problem of space, which is another big headache. It also makes me feel that in China, no matter what you buy, there are a lot of merchants. And no matter how big or small the brands are, they all have good reviews and bad reviews, and it’s hard for some newbies to get confused by these, and some even have their confidence in building a website destroyed and quit directly.
After buying the domain name and space, I bought them from two different agents because I had no experience. Only then did I realize that it was better to buy the domain name and space from one agency, which was much more convenient. Then we have to do DNS resolution, domain name binding, and filing. Speaking of filing, it was relatively fast at that time, and it was ready in a few days. It’s not like now, taking photos, mailing documents and so on, it’s a lot of trouble.
All the preliminary preparations are OK, now it’s time to start launching the website. Because I am a programmer, I wrote a set of website source code myself. It should be noted here that programmers do not necessarily understand webmaster knowledge. Everything seems to be going well, the website is online and content has been added. What to do next? Promote! But how to promote it, I was blinded all of a sudden.
I have heard about SEO before and have been in contact with some SEO companies, but I still feel that SEO is very mysterious. In my opinion, SEO is as difficult knowledge as the framework of the program. So website promotion was in trouble. At this time, I accidentally read an e-book, so I decided to participate in an online SEO training. This move would seem to many people to be very impulsive, even a little stupid. Isn’t it stupid to just read an e-book and join an online training without any doubts, observations, or questions? All I can say is that this is a kind of resonance, a trust infected by words. Maybe I'm just so easy to fool.
After understanding SEO, I feel that the code I developed is very inconsistent with SEO optimization, and my program is indeed not very good. So I immediately switched to an open source CMS system, and I had never been exposed to a CMS system before. So I researched the website while doing SEO. Until now, 2 months have passed, the keywords are all on the Baidu homepage, and dozens of IPs are starting to come in from the search engine every day. The keyword index is relatively low, so there is not much traffic, and the top 5.6 places are all occupied by Baidu promotion. This was also my first mistake in choosing keywords.
After 2 months of study, there is indeed a lot to learn on the road to being a webmaster, such as online marketing. I also discovered that SEO is not the only way to promote a website. SEO is slow to achieve results. It is still necessary to combine it with other website promotion methods. You cannot just wait for SEO. So I would like to remind many webmasters like me that SEO is just a means, and Internet marketing requires There are more new innovations and methods to explore on your own.
Okay, before I knew it, I talked about a lot of my experiences and shared them with some new friends. Building a website is a long-term process. Although there are many problems, one problem is solved each time or traffic is attracted. It will make us full of joy. Because I have experienced pain, I am even more happy. Friends on the road, let’s encourage each other.
