As an SEOER, I habitually search SEO on Baidu every day, and then enter the SEOWHY forum. SEOWHY's ranking fluctuations some time ago caused a stir in the SEO community. As the leader in the SEO industry, the industry website that has been ranked at the top for more than 2 years has now experienced fluctuations, and it is natural to cause an uproar. Many people even began to doubt whether the SEOWHY model (CMS+BBS+BLOG) is still feasible and whether SEOWHY really has a strong team operating. We can see that many sites ranking on the homepage are just a simple BLOG or BBS. Therefore, some people superficially believe that the SEOWHY model is no longer used today. Baidu’s algorithm adjustment will inevitably lead to big changes.
So, let’s analyze why Baidu ranks SEOWHY behind:
1. User experience
Doing SEO is doing user experience. This is mentioned in my previous article Real Website SEO: Factors Affecting User Experience. Comparing several sites with target keywords on the SEO ranking homepage, whether it is from website content, website structure or some small factors, such as the number of advertisements, dead links, 404 pages, URL standardization, etc., SEOWHY is stronger than other sites. At least it won’t lose to other websites
2. Website external links
I believe it goes without saying that we all know this. In terms of website external links, SEOWHY has far more external links than any other site. For example, liweihui, Zac, Xiao Jun, etc., the number of external links is much less than SEOWHY. This also makes us once again doubt a previous point of view: the more external links, the better? If so, then why do many industry sites have more external links than any other website, but their rankings are worse than others?
3. Website popularity
We can see the statistics of the number of people in the SEOWHY forum. At the time of writing, there were a total of 3,081 people online at the same time, and its PV is said to be as high as more than 10. I believe that among similar websites, there is no website that can compare with SEOWHY in terms of popularity. Even LIWEIHUI currently only has more than 200 people online at the same time (of course the data at this time cannot explain anything). But we can remember one thing, the keywords of website optimization: search engine awareness.
4. Other factors
Wu Wei’s explanation for the fluctuation in SEOWHY rankings is that the website has been replaced with dual IP resolution and what many people call forum signatures. But just imagine, if the dispersion of weights is caused by dual IPs, why does the ranking recover soon? Obviously, it is not a good statement that dual IPs cause dispersion of weights. So, is it really the reason for the signature? Now SEOWHY has canceled the signature for new users in the future (users who have already signed will not cancel). This is a big move and it does require a lot of courage. If it is really because of forum signatures, then after taking these measures, I believe it will take at least some time for the ranking to recover, and now SEOWHY's ranking has been restored.
Regarding SEOWHY ranking changes, I can simply understand them as ranking fluctuations. These are just some common rules and phenomena in SEO. Just like our own website, it may fluctuate every three days, but SEOWHY rankings It has always been very stable and attracted a lot of attention, so changes in rankings will naturally be magnified, leading to a lot of "uncalmness". Of course, there must be a reason for the ranking fluctuations. Perhaps it is due to the introduction of a new algorithm rule by Baidu, and SEOWHY just does not do a good job in this regard.
