This tutorial introduces how to take some pictures that lack color and overlay them with colorful layers to create your favorite colors. Then add light and texture effects. You don’t need to choose gorgeous photos when making them, ordinary pictures will do.
1. Open the original image and press Ctrl + J to copy a layer. Execute the menu: Filter > Pixelate > Dotted. After confirmation, execute the menu: Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur parameter settings as shown in Figure 2. After confirmation, execute the menu: Filter Mirror > Artistic Effects > Painting Smear
2. Change the layer blending mode to "Difference", add a layer mask and use a black brush to erase parts of the character.
3. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + ~ to bring up the highlight selection, fill it with color: #FFFEDE, and then change the layer blending mode to "Overlay"
4. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to stamp the layer (if you don’t know much about the meaning of the stamp layer, please click here to view: The meaning of the stamp layer), execute the menu: Filter > Artistic Effect > Painting, after confirmation, change the layer blending mode to "Color Burn" and the layer opacity to: 20%
5. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to stamp the layer. Execute the menu: Filter > Noise > Add Noise. After confirmation, execute the menu: Filter > Pixelate > Color Block. Confirm and execute again. Menu: Filter > Stylize > Diffusion. After confirmation, change the layer blending mode to "Soft Light" and the layer opacity to: 70%. Add a layer mask and use a black brush to erase the character part.
6. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to stamp the layer, change the layer blending mode to "Screen", and change the layer opacity to: 40%
7. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + ~ to bring up the layer highlight, fill it with color: #FFFEDE, and change the layer blending mode to "Saturation"
8. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to stamp the layer. Execute the menu: Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. The value is 3. After confirmation, change the layer blending mode to "Soft Light". Change opacity to 60%
9. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to stamp the layer, and use the Topaz filter to sharpen it. If you haven’t installed it yet, please click here to download it. Complete the final effect.
