This tutorial introduces how to colorize purple-red pictures. The general process: first simply add warm colors to the picture, then add dark purple to the dark parts of the picture. If the picture is bright, you need to make it darker, and finally make the character part rosy.
1. Open the original image material, create an optional color adjustment layer, and adjust the yellow. This step turns the background green into yellow-green.
2. Create a Curves adjustment layer and adjust the blue channel. This step increases the blue color in the dark parts of the picture.
3. Create a color balance adjustment layer and adjust the shadows and highlights. This step increases the red color in the dark parts of the picture.
4. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust the red, yellow, and black. This step turns the red into purple.
5. Press Ctrl + J to duplicate the currently selected color adjustment layer and add purple to the dark part of the image.
6. Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + 2 to bring up the highlight selection, create a new layer and fill it with light red: #E4B4BF, change the blending mode to "Screen", and change the opacity to: 30%. Hold down the Alt key to add a layer mask, and use a white brush to erase the character's face. This step adds brightness to the face.
7. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust the red, white, and black. This step increases the light cyan color of the highlight part of the picture and reduces the brightness of the picture.
8. Bring out the highlight selection, create a new layer and fill it with orange-red: #E4C3B4, change the blending mode to "Screen", and change the opacity to: 10%. Adds warmth to highlights.
9. Bring up the highlight selection and press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection. Create a new layer filled with dark purple: #502F5C, change the blending mode to "Screen", and change the opacity to: 30%. This step adds purple and brightness to the dark areas.
10. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer. Fine-tune the color of the face, and then simply smooth the skin on the character part.
11. Create a new layer, fill it with light red: #E4C3B4, change the blending mode to "Screen", hold down the Alt key to add a layer mask, and use a white brush to erase the upper right corner. If the highlights are not enough, you can copy the current layer to enhance the brightness of the local highlights.
12. Create a brightness/contrast adjustment layer to appropriately increase the contrast of the picture.
13. Use a pen to outline a selection of the character's lips, create a color balance adjustment layer, fine-tune the lip color, and customize the value.
Finally, adjust the details and colors to complete the final effect.
