Turning a beautiful landscape photo into a pastel ink landscape painting is what many PS enthusiasts want to try. There are many such tutorials available online. Here is a different production method for you, I hope it will be helpful to you. Let’s take a look at the original pictures and renderings first:
The specific operations are as follows:
Step 1: Strengthen the edges of the outline and fade the details appropriately
1. First, copy the layer, Shift+Ctrl+U to perform decolorization;
2. Duplicate the decolorized layer and invert it with Ctrl+I. Set the layer blending mode to Color Dodge.
3. Execute Filter-Others-Minimum and set the parameter to 1.
4. Merge the upper and lower black and white layers, and the drawing sketch effect is completed. See Figure 3:
5. Adjust the opacity of this layer to 70%.
6. Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E stamp layer. The following results are obtained: see Figure 4, Figure 4-1
Step 2: Imitate the effect of ink strokes
7. Copy the stamped layer 1, create a copy of layer 1, execute Filter - Artistic Effect - Woodcut, and set the parameters as follows: Level 6, Edge Simplification 2, Edge Realism 2; see the picture 5-1 (The settings of this parameter can be adjusted according to different pictures. The main purpose is to create some imitation ink block surface effects of the pattern)
See Figure 5:
8. After executing the woodcut filter, I feel that the entire picture is blurry and lacks the level of detail. Let’s continue processing: add a layer mask to the copy of layer 1 and paint it with a black soft-angle brush. Set the brush diameter to be larger (100), the opacity to be lower (30-40), and the hardness to 0, and erase some areas that need to be clear. This way there are no hard edges.
