PS tips: Mask and free deformation tool to quickly slim down the face
Open the example image. In this example, the girl's face is slightly fatter due to wide-angle distortion. It doesn't matter. Just two steps can restore her charming face.
1. Use the free deformation tool to achieve face slimming
First create a copy of the layer and press Ctrl+J to copy the background layer. Then, find the Free Transform tool in the edit menu (or press Ctrl+T), and drag the handle on the deformation box to shrink the image horizontally. How about it? Has MM’s face become thinner (Picture 1)?
Now, the face has become thinner, but because the sizes of the upper and lower layers are inconsistent after deformation, there is an image overlapping problem on both sides of the picture. This problem needs to be solved by using a mask.
2. Use masks and brushes to repair image overlap
Create a layer mask on the background copy layer, as shown in Figure 2.
Then select the white mask, set the foreground color of the brush tool to black, and use the brush to paint where the images overlap in the picture. The overlapping images disappeared immediately (Figure 3).
Carefully check whether there are still image overlap problems in the picture, and adjust the brush size to apply. After completing the above operations, we can make the face slimming come true. Look at the effect, it’s not bad.
Tip: When masking, you can reduce the opacity, flow, and hardness of the brush to create a smooth transition effect.
