This article is a translation tutorial, not my original creation. I would like to thank the author of the original tutorial: Kyle Pero
The effect creation method in this tutorial is very simple. It mainly involves the use of layer blending modes and layer styles. It is just that when making text effects, you need to copy more layers, which is more cumbersome, but the final effect is very beautiful. Let’s take a look first. The final effect.
1. Create a new file of 2000*1200 pixels, select the gradient tool, and pull out a linear gradient with dark gray (#464646) at the bottom and black at the top.
2. Create a linear gradient fill adjustment layer, load Coordinating Color 1, and select a dark tone, as shown below. You can also set your favorite gradient color yourself.
Set the layer blending mode to Color and set the fill to 25%.
The effect is as shown in the figure
3. Create a black to transparent radial gradient fill adjustment layer again, and set the black opacity color scale to 30%, as shown in the figure
Select Radial for style, 90 degrees for angle, and 150% for zoom. If your image is black in the middle, please check Reverse.
Set the opacity to 65%, the effect is as shown below
4. Set the foreground color to black, select the text tool, enter text, use Ctrl+T to adjust the size of the text, and set the layer blending mode of the text layer to screen. At this time, the text layer will be invisible.
5. Double-click the text layer to bring up the layer style panel and set the outer glow, as shown in the figure
Set the stroke, as shown in the figure
Now we can see that our text appears as shown below
6. Now we start to create the light effect of the font. Press Ctrl+J to copy 20 text layers, and select the text tool to change the font of each text layer (try to choose fonts with similar stroke widths), and hide other than the initial font layer. For other text layers, use Ctrl+T to adjust each font layer in turn, set the center point below the text, and ensure that the bottom of each word is on a horizontal line (when adjusting which text layer you want to adjust, don’t forget to click on the layer Eye)
The effect is as shown in the figure
7. Select all the text layers, press CTrl+G to group them, hold down the Alt key and use the left mouse button to drag the text to the appropriate position to get a copy of group 1, expand the copy of group 1, hide the text layers except the bottom, and select the text tool, change the text to S on the canvas, change all the text layers to s in turn, then hold down the Alt key and use the left mouse button to drag the text to the right to get Group 1 Copy 2, and copy the text as before Change the layer to D, the effect is as shown below
