1. Create a new document with a black background of 980*400px. The black background can highlight our spectral lines. Now we need to set up the brush to create light spots, select the brush tool, select the brush as shown in the picture, hardness 0%, 9px.
Press F5 to bring up the brush preset window and adjust the shape dynamics, dispersion, and other dynamics respectively. Remember to check Smooth.
Once set, we save the brush preset for next time.
2. Create a new layer and use the pen tool to draw the following path on this layer.
Press the D key to reset the foreground and background colors. Press the X key to switch the foreground color to white. With the pen tool selected, right-click on the canvas to stroke the path.
(Tool: Brush, Check: Simulate Pressure), so that we get the effect shown below.
Delete path.
3. Perform motion blur on the "point" layer (Filter--Blur--Motion Blur).
You can press CTRL+F to perform motion blur repeatedly to get the effect shown below.
Add gradient overlay, execute Layer--Layer Style--Gradient Overlay, load "Color Spectrum Gradient", and select the gradient color as shown in the picture.
Press CTRL+J to copy the layer 4 times, then press CTRL+E to merge all the copied layers. Now the effect is much more obvious.
