in this tutorial. We will learn to design and create a very cool geometric text and Grungy style background effect. The operation is not complicated. But the effect is stunning. Let’s try it together.
We'll also learn how to create this really dazzling light and smoke effect. Techniques involved include layer blending. filter. Image adjustments and specific brushes.
Below is the rendering.
Before the official start. We need the following materials.
Click to download: Font file
Click to download: Background Brushes
1. Create a new document in PS. 1200*1700px. Fill the background layer with black. Create a new layer. Load the brush we downloaded and use gray color to paint some Grungy style texture. As shown in the picture.
The trick with this step is that you'd better set the brush flow and opacity to low. About 30% to 40% would be good. Try to change the brush size as you draw. And don't use the same brush all the time. The more changes you make. The better the effect you get.
If you want to skip this step. Then you can click here to download the prepared background.
Now we're going to make space for the text. And create some depth to the image. Give texture layer. Add a mask as shown in the image below.
Add a Curves adjustment layer on top of the layer. We need to modify the brightness and contrast of the image.
The image we get is as follows.
2. Create a new layer. Use the font we downloaded earlier. Write in dark gray on a new layer. For ease of adjustment. I wrote on more than one layer. Then perform operations such as rotation and scaling. The effect is as follows.
Once adjusted to a satisfactory effect. Let's rasterize these text layers. Then merge them together. Apply the following layer styles.
The effect is as follows.
Now comes the fun part. We make 5 copies of this text layer. Set their opacity respectively as follows.
