Motive for the experiment: Due to the Baidu earthquake, several websites were involved, and the experiment was conducted to save ourselves.
Experimental subjects: 3 of my own websites and Baidu search.
Experimental time: end of June 2012 to present.
Experimental goal: Explore the causes, motivations, recovery measures and development trends of the Baidu earthquake.
Experimental method: Take targeted optimization measures and compare and observe the feedback effect of the website in Baidu search.
Experimental results: The three websites were K-stopped and had no keyword rankings. Now they have all returned to normal and entered the top three.
Now the key points of the website self-rescue experiment that the author had no choice but to carry out are recorded as follows:
1. Research on the reasons for being demoted and being banned from K-site
After comparing the three websites under my control, the author found that among these websites, the site that was first demoted had the following three most prominent causes and doubts: First, the website was updated irregularly. After a content update, After being put on hold for a long time, there is no stable frequency of content updates; secondly, the content quality of the website is limited. Compared with websites that mainly focus on original content, some websites with pseudo-original and intact excerpted content are the first to suffer from demotion; thirdly, the website’s content quality is limited. The website's external links have fallen into a deadlock. Due to uneven energy balance, those sites that have not exchanged friendly links for a long time and have not regularly released external links will bear the brunt of Baidu's adjustments.
2. An exploration of the motivations behind Baidu’s large-scale adjustments
For Baidu, it has been in a continuous "struggle" with various SEO techniques for a long time. In the past, Baidu's search results were often occupied by spam sites or fraudulent websites that used black hat methods to occupy the front search positions, which greatly affected the search results. Not only does it affect the user experience, it also causes Baidu's reputation and reputation to be exposed by the media from time to time, which makes it very embarrassing.
After this adjustment, Baidu's very prominent approach was to vigorously eliminate content providers such as grassroots websites and personal websites with uneven content, and instead significantly improve the rankings of large portal sites and large-scale old sites. In addition, Also improving are Baidu's own products such as Wenku, Encyclopedia, and Zhizhi. Baidu's motive for cleaning up the content of search results has become clear. Consistent with Baidu's logic of manual intervention from time to time, in the face of increasingly rampant SEO techniques, Baidu has adopted a method of preferring to kill a thousand by mistake rather than missing one to ensure that the search results are as full of sources as possible and more credible. It reduces the chance of being deceived by some spam sites and fraudulent information, thus reducing the chances of being deceived by some spam sites and fraudulent information. As a result, countless small and medium-sized sites like me, webmasters, were seriously involved in this "big purge".
3. Summary of effective means to restore rankings from the Baidu earthquake
Knowing the possible motive of Baidu’s large-scale purge of search results, those webmasters who run websites in a down-to-earth manner, especially content websites, do not need to panic, because many innocent webmasters have been caught in this adjustment. The serious impact is not an isolated phenomenon. After being adjusted, the effective methods that the author has explored to promote ranking recovery mainly include:
The first is to maintain stable content updates. Baidu examines whether a site is healthy, active, and regular. A very important indicator is whether it can continue to publish information. It should not be like a stagnant pool of water that has not updated information for a month; the second is the updated content. It is necessary to reduce the repetition rate as much as possible, focus on high-quality original content, and at least spend more time and thought on original content during the period of promoting recovery; third, exchange friendly links regularly and appropriately, and provide high-weight links , especially external links on platforms with high relevance. These three methods may seem simple, but the most important thing is to maintain regularity and persistence, and avoid intermittent, "overeating and overdrinking" practices.
4. Analysis of Baidu’s future search optimization rule trends
Through this major adjustment of Baidu, the clearest and most important signal I got is that Baidu pays more attention to the quality of search results, pays more attention to providing high-quality information services to users, and strengthens the review of information providers (websites). Sites with a long history, regular updates, active external links, and frequent user visits will be given higher weight and attention. Sites that are new, have low-quality content, are updated and are inactive will be downgraded accordingly, and will be given a longer period of inspection. period to ensure the high quality of content providers.
Therefore, in the future, I believe Baidu will continue to implement this concept and practice. After all, there are still a considerable number of websites that have not had their weights and rankings restored. It can be seen that Baidu has made some changes in the screening probability of its search rules. Larger adjustments have been made to conduct longer inspections of some sites that are not of high enough quality. This requires webmasters to work on their sites in a down-to-earth manner, abandon some opportunistic practices, truly pay attention to user experience, and achieve higher standards. Better content quality, more stable content updates, and the favor of users can gain higher weight in Baidu's evaluation system and suffer as little loss as possible in the face of adjustments that may occur in the future.
