Today we will use filters to draw a swimming ring. Before we start drawing, I hope you will take a look at the final result of this article and imagine: What filters will be used to draw this life ring?
Environment support: Photoshop CS, other versions have similar steps. Required filters: halftone pattern, polar coordinates
1. Start Photoshop CS, create a new square canvas, create a new layer, fill it with white, set the foreground color to red and the background color to white, execute the "Filter → Sketch → Halftone Pattern" command and open the "Halftone Pattern" " dialog box, in which set the "Pattern" type to "Straight Line", the "Size" and "Contrast" values to 12 and 50 respectively. After applying this filter, the image is filled with red horizontal stripes.
Then execute the "Edit → Transform → Rotate 90 degrees" command to rotate the stripe layer so that the stripes stand up. The effect is shown in Figure 1.

2. Execute the "Filter → Distort → Polar Coordinates" command and select the "Planar Coordinates to Polar Coordinates" single option in the "Polar Coordinates" dialog box. At this time, the red stripes are distributed radially from the center point of the image. The effect is as shown in Figure 2 Show.

3. Select the "Elliptical Marquee" tool, hold down the "Shift+Alt" keys, click the mouse on the center point of the image and drag outward, a perfect circle selection will be made (this selection will determine the outer diameter of the lifebuoy) and then Execute the "Select→Inverse Selection" command and press the "Del" key to delete the image in the selection.
4. Invert the selection again, execute the "Select → Transform Selection" command, press the "Shift+Alt" key and drag the control handle to shrink the selection toward the center of the image, and then press the "Del" key to delete the image in the selection. At this point, the lifebuoy is basically formed.
5. Add the "Inner Shadow" layer style to the lifebuoy layer to make the lifebuoy produce a three-dimensional effect, and then execute the "Layer→Layer Style→Create Layer" command to separate the lifebuoy layer from the "Inner Shadow" layer style. Finally, add the "Projection" layer style to the lifebuoy layer, and the effect is shown in Figure 3.
