I have seen many tutorials on making metallic textures on the Internet. Everyone has their own opinions. Some say to use channels to create a three-dimensional effect, some say to use the burn and dodge tool to apply slowly. Some say to use a chrome filter. I have always considered Chrome Yellow filters to be very mysterious. Even now. The effects produced by Chrome Yellow cannot be well controlled and can be said to be very random.
Each object has several luminous surfaces. This is the base surface that forms the three-dimensional surface. I filled the original image with different colors to create different selections. Each color in it is a selection, and needs to be adjusted individually. Colored. It is best to save one for each selection in the channel so that it can be modified later.
First of all, we need to cut out the picture. It shouldn’t be difficult to cut out this picture, right? I won’t go into details about how to cut it out, just use a pen. Then adjust the color, use curves to adjust the color. Make it as bright as possible. Don’t make it too bright. oh
Now do you feel that the ring is a bit red and does not have the texture of platinum? Then remove the color. First select the gem area with a pen => Invert the selection (Ctrl+Shitl+I) => Remove the color (Ctrl+Shitl+U) Now you feel a little bit better, right?
Then do the shadow of the inner ring of the ring. There are many methods for this step, such as chrome yellow, darken and dodge, channel + lighting effect. I use gradient, first make a selection of the inner ring of the ring => Use the gradient tool to adjust the gradient color. If you don’t know how to adjust it, just adjust it like me. During the gradient, the picture is a bit stiff, so you can add a small amount of noise appropriately. Just a small amount. There are also monochromatic noises.
Now let's do the second inner ring shadow, just like the gourd. Don't tell me you don't know how to do it.
The inner ring is OK, let's adjust the side. Same, first use a pen to cut out the selection => the curve will give some brightness => the noise will give some texture
However, the process is almost the same. The process of using a pen to cut out the selected area => curve => add miscellaneous points is quite tedious. You must take your time and don't rush.
Next we start making highlights. Use a pen to select a selection => Feather about 5 pixels => Use curves to make it as bright as possible. Use the burn tool on both sides of the highlights on the sides and apply it lightly a few times.
After the highlights are done, we will do the reflection on the highlights. Use a pen to pick out the reflective selection => Feather about 3 pixels => Fill with black. Is it too dark? It doesn't matter, just wipe it with the eraser. Use the eraser tool Adjust the transparency to 20, wipe gently and slowly
After completing this step, only the gem area is left. Come on, victory is just like before. First use a pen to cut out the selection => give the curve some brightness.
