This tutorial teaches you to use Photoshop to create colorful "particle" special effects. This method can broaden your horizons and you can draw inferences to create better special effects.
1. Use Photoshop to create a “particle generator”
Create a new document with a black background, create a new layer, and then use the Ellipse Tool to draw the following shape.
2. Create particle trajectories. Create a new layer and use the brush tool to draw the following shape.
3. Add color. Create a new layer and use a soft brush to choose your favorite color. .
4. Color. First, hold down Ctrl and click on the particle generator layer, then press Shift+Ctrl and click on the particle layer to load the selection.
Press the Add Mask command button on the layer panel to add a mask. The effect is as follows.
5. Add glowing effect. Add a Glow effect layer style to the particle layer and particle generator layer.
Then select the mask layer, perform a Gaussian blur filter, and set the radius to 4 to give it a dreamy effect.
6. Add a glowing effect to the particle generator. Create a layer on top of the mask, then use the gradient tool to set the color yourself. Use the gradient color from your favorite color to transparent, use a radial gradient, draw a small circle, and then set the "color overlay" of the layer. "Layer style, blending mode to Overlay, color to white, opacity to 100%, lower the fill of this layer to 65%.
7. Modify the particles. Use the Smudge Tool and Eraser Tool to modify the particles, and also add a Color Overlay layer style. The mode is Overlay, the color is white, and the opacity is 100%. Finally lower the layer's fill.
8. Apply the particle generator. Duplicate the particle generator layer and use the Smudge Tool to smudge from top left to bottom right to add movement.
Add an Outer Glow layer style and set it as follows.
Finally add a background layer, fill it with any color, and the final layers panel will look like this.
The final effect is as follows.
