This tutorial introduces how to transform a real person into an interesting puppet. The idea is: dig out several main joints of the character, then replace them with small wooden balls that connect them, and then add highlights and other decorations to the connecting areas to make the picture look close to that of a puppet. Feel.
Original picture
final effect
1. Open the original image and use the pen tool to outline the path of the shoulder, press Ctrl + Enter to make a selection, and then press Ctrl + J to copy the image in the selection to a new layer.
2. Outline the arm area using the same method as above, convert it into a selection and press Ctrl + J to copy it to a new layer.
3. Then tick, the method is the same as above.
4. All parts that need to be drawn should be drawn according to the above method.
5. Between the cut out hand and shoulder, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to draw a small circle of moderate size, fill it with the color of the skin, and use the Burn/Dodge Tool to create a three-dimensional effect, as shown below.
6. Use the same method to make interface balls for other joints.
7. Now that the connection between the ball and the legs is not good, adjust the following and draw a shape as shown below under the ball. <
8. This is the cross-section path just now. After drawing it, use the darken/dodge method to connect the edges.
9. Return to the foot position, draw the path as shown below along the edge, press Ctrl + Enter to turn into a selection, press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection, select the menu: Select > Modify > Shrink, the value is 3, press Ctrl + Shift + I invert the selection and use the Dodge tool to lighten the edges. This gives their joints a mechanical effect.
10. Use the same method as above to treat other identical parts.
11. Draw several paths as shown in the picture below, press Ctrl + Enter to turn it into a selection, feather it a little, fill it with white, and lower the opacity as a highlight.
12. Finally, display the character, select the menu: Image/Liquify, use the expansion tool, and hold on the character's eyes to make them bigger.
13. Merge all layers, and then adjust the overall effect to complete the final effect.
