I often see great tentacle effects made by experts on foreign PS websites. I also asked them how to achieve the tentacle effect. The answer is hand-painting. It seems that cool effects cannot be achieved without good art skills. I almost gave up. Until one day, during my unremitting experiments, I finally achieved this effect, and it was done with just a few parameters. If you don’t believe it, take a look.

Okay, let’s start this tutorial right away!

(ii) CTRL+SHIFT+N Create a new layer, name it "Tentacle 1", execute the "View" --> "Ruler" command to display the ruler. In this layer, use the Pen Tool to draw a straight path with a length of 800 pixels from left to right, then add three anchor points on it, then hold down the CTRL key while the Pen Tool is selected, drag the anchor points, and move the straight line Edit the path into a curve path and name it "Curve One" in the path panel; (as shown below)
(iii) Select the brush tool, right-click on the canvas area, and in the pop-up dialog box, set the brush diameter to 28 and the hardness to 40%, then open the brush preset panel and set the parameters as shown in (Figure 2);
∣Set the foreground color to "#B92222" (of course you can also try other colors), then switch to the path panel, activate the path "Curve One", click the "Stroke Path with Brush" button at the bottom of the panel to outline the path, and get -As shown below.
㈤In this step we start the core step of this special effect, which is setting the layer style. Press the F7 key to switch to the layer panel, double-click the layer "Tentacle 1", open the "Layer Style" table, and set the items and parameters as shown in the following three pictures;
㈥After setting the layer style above, we will get the effect we want, as shown below:
By copying and moving, we finally completed the tentacle effect picture (on the first floor). Of course, the layer style function is very powerful. Take a look at the picture below. This picture is in the "Layer Style" panel. How about the effect after checking "Texture" and "Pattern Overlay"? It has a unique flavor! There are many unique effects through layer style settings, it’s up to you!
