1. Duplicate the background layer and smooth the surface on the copy layer. Just use the filter that comes with PS to smooth the skin. Execute the Filter-Noise-Reduce Noise command.
2. If the character's skin is reddish, use the Match Color command to adjust it, Image-Adjustment-Match Color, check "Neutralize", and keep the other values as default.
