This tutorial introduces how to make a small flame. The general process: first draw the highlight area with a brush, and then use the smudge tool to smear the shape of the flame. This process may seem simple, but it is not easy to do it well!

1. Open the material and create a new Levels adjustment layer.
2. The color level parameter settings are as shown below.
3. Create a new layer and use a soft brush to create an effect like a small picture on the palm of your hand. Set the foreground color and brush size.
4. Select the smear tool and apply the flame effect from the center of the circle outward.
5. Press Q to enter the quick mask mode, select a 200PX soft brush, and click on the palm of your hand to create the effect as shown below.
6. Press Q to launch the quick mask mode, press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection, keep the selection, and create a color balance adjustment layer. The parameter settings are as shown below.
Go ahead and select the highlight option.
7. Use a black paintbrush to erase the color beyond your hand, otherwise use a white paintbrush to erase the color on your hand.
8. Select the 6PX soft brush and set the brush parameters as shown below.
9. Create a new layer, set the foreground color to orange, use the set brush to create sparks on the fire eyes, and set the layer opacity to: 64%. The effect is as shown below.
10. Create a new layer and set the foreground to: #FFFF69. Use an ordinary soft-edged brush to click a few times on the center of the fire to increase the brightness of the fire core to complete the final effect.
