This tutorial introduces how to make bamboo mats. Idea: First use some filter effects to create the texture of the bamboo mat, then copy a small part, and use layer transformation and modification to create the effect of the bamboo mat. Start with black and white, then define the repeating part as a pattern, then fill it with color.

Step one: Create a new 400×750 canvas (named mat).
Step 2: Execute the Noise-Add Noise command under the Filter menu (the parameters are as shown below).

Step 3: Execute the - Blur - Motion Blur command under the filter menu (the parameters are as shown below).

Step 4: Click the Rectangular Marquee Tool, select an appropriate small area on the canvas, and then press CTRL+J to copy the selected area to create a new layer. The effect is as shown below.

Step 5: Make three consecutive copies of the layer you just copied, then use the (CTRL+T) Free Transform tool to rotate the last two layers 90 degrees respectively and place them in the right position, as shown below.
