Production steps:
1. First make a draft with pencil on paper. Since there is no scanner, I use a camera to take a picture. After opening it in PS, adjust the brightness and contrast to see clearly.
Figure 1
2. Use the pen tool to outline the face, ears and neck, and fill in the flesh color. It is best to create a new layer for each path and fill to facilitate modification.
Figure 2
3. Use the pen tool to outline the clothes and fill it with white.
Figure 3
4. Continue to use the pen tool to outline the hat and fill it with white. Here, the hat has a 1-pixel border, or it can be filled in and drawn uniformly.
Figure 4
5. Use the pen tool to outline the hair and fill it with black. For these less regular shapes, you can also use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to hook them, and then use the Smudge Tool and Eraser Tool to modify them.
Figure 5
6. In order to easily observe the coloring effect, create a new layer under the character and use the gradient tool to create a gradient background from black to brown.
Figure 6
7. You can put the pencil sketch on the top layer and set the blending mode to "Multiply", which makes it easy to draw lines. Outline your eyebrows and fill them in dark brown, don't fill them in pure black, as that will look unnatural. Use a blur tool of about 10 pixels to blur the edges of the eyebrows to make them look softer.
Figure 7
8. Use the pen tool to outline the eyes and fill them with white.
Figure 8
9. Use the Pen Tool to outline the nose and mouth, and stroke them with a 1-pixel brush.
Figure 9
10. Use the pen tool to outline the details of the clothes and hat, and use a 1-pixel brush to stroke the lines. The collar line here is purple.
Figure 10
11. Use a 2 pixel brush to paint a dark brown border for the eyes. Use the smudge tool to outline the shape of the corner of the eye, and modify it with the eraser tool to make the upper lash line a little thicker than the lower lash line.
Figure 11
12. Use the Pen Tool to outline the double eyelids, and use a 1-pixel brush to outline it, also in dark brown.
Figure 12
13. Use a curve to increase the brightness so that the lines of the double eyelids are not as thick as the eyeliner.
