In this tutorial, we will introduce you to a "greasy effect". First, find a picture. You can find pictures related to it, such as engines, oil pipes, etc., just like the picture below.
Now we will make the image more colorful and contrasty. First duplicate the background layer and select the mode of the new layer as "Hard Light". Doing this will produce the desired result, increasing the sharpness of the image as well as its saturation without changing the image quality.
Copy and merge this layer with the background layer, set the layer mode to "Hard Light", open Filter - Other - High Contrast Preservation. This value can be adjusted according to the actual situation. Generally speaking, it is enough to maintain clarity.
Create a new layer, set this layer's mode to "Overlay", and fill it with a two-color gradient. I used 2 earth-based colors and used a linear gradient. Then open Filter-Noise-Add Noise, check Monochrome, the value is around 30%, OK. Now it looks too sharp. Then open Filter-Blur-Gaussian Blur, set the value to 2, and confirm, so that the effect will be more blended.
