With the increase in domain name registration users, the resources of short and easy-to-remember domain names with the .com suffix are almost exhausted. The next best thing is to choose domain names such as net/.cn/.org to build portal websites. This is something that everyone has long been accustomed to. In order to find shorter domain names that are more in line with the website name and positioning, individual webmasters have begun to use a large number of domain name suffixes that were not originally mainstream in recent years, such as .info, .cc, .tk, .in, .biz, .co, .tv, .la, etc. Especially for personal blogs, domain name suffixes are even more diverse. So will using different domain names have any impact on Baidu’s inclusion?
Baidu now collects commonly used domain names such as .com/.net very quickly. If a new website has some original content, it can be indexed quickly by sending some external links. Baidu is more friendly to the inclusion of org domain names than com domain names.
In 2007 and 2008, the .cn domain name became the most economical choice for building a website because of the promotion of a one-dollar registration discount. After that, a large number of garbage station groups used the .cn domain name. The emergence of a large number of spam sites has made Baidu more cautious about including .cn domain names. It is obvious that the .cn domain name used by general websites does not have as high a weight as .com. However, the .cn domain name registration fee later returned to normal, and personal registration was restricted, making the threshold for using .cn domain names higher, and the overall quality of websites with .cn domain names also relatively improved. Now Baidu has normalized the inclusion of .cn domain names, and many webmasters have responded that the weight is better than .com.
The suffix .gov.cn is a branch of the .cn series. Because it is a government domain name, there are no negative factors such as garbage dumps. Baidu also trusts .gov.cn more. However, only governments, agencies and other institutions can easily register.
.info Because godaddy has launched a cheap registration discount, you can register a .info domain name for about four or five yuan. Therefore, many domestic webmaster friends who are engaged in website groups and spam sites have taken aim at it. The proliferation of spam sites has greatly reduced Baidu’s favorable impression of info. Now, although the discounts for .info domain names have been reduced, Baidu’s discrimination against .info domain names seems to be continuing. For a new info domain name, if you build a website normally, it will take about half a month for Baidu to include it. A .info site with the same content will have a lower weight than a .com site.
The above examples of domain name discrimination by Baidu are all the result of domestic webmasters’ preference to choose cheap domain names. A more extreme example is the free domain name of .tk, which has caused countless people who want to make websites but not others to start registering tk to play. The proliferation of garbage sites has led to Baidu almost completely not including .tk domain names last year. Countless webmasters who used tk domain names had their inclusion results cleared overnight. So far, .tk is still considered a domain name suffix that Baidu does not include.
Some other non-mainstream suffix domain names with relatively normal prices are relatively normal for Baidu to include. It seems that a pattern can be seen, that is, domain names that are too cheap and have too low threshold for use can easily lead to the proliferation of spam sites. Such domain names will produce results that are not popular with search engines. For webmasters who don’t have enough money, this is a very unfortunate phenomenon.
We can't change this rule, so we can only advise webmasters who register domain names to choose domain names with reasonable prices if their finances permit. It is recommended not to use free domain names like .tk unless you plan to prevent your website from getting traffic from Baidu searches.
